What is the red spot?

Here is a shot of M-31 that I took and was wondering what the red spot near the top was. It shows up in many photos of M-31. Is it a HII region or something else?

What to do?

I sent a fellow a cashiers check on Feb 28 for an item I purchased from him on astromart and I haven't heard from him. So I e-mailed him to ask if everything is ok and he responded that he had not received my check yet. Its been over two weeks. Should I wait a little longer, say a week or so? I would like so advice!

I used a 21mm plossl and a FS102 @100 ASA for 8 sec. I took several others @ 200ASA, 400ASA and 800ASA. The 400 and 800 were pretty noisy but recorded better reds.

Pentex E.P.s

I got to look through a 7mm & a 14mm XL this weekend at NiAG. I thought the 14mm showed a little color compared to my 13mm NAG type 1 with my 13mm being just a tad sharper. The 14mm showed a red fringe on jupiter and Saturn. The 7mm was awesome, Very sharp and crisp views with a lot of contrast. It darkened the sky down without dimming the object being viewed. I may be interested in the 7mm in the near future and was wondering if all the pentex XL were the same. It seems not because the 14mm gave a less sharp view than the higher power 7mm. I have heard about the XL's having better performing f.l. that others. Is this true. I am interested in some info on these E.P.s so would like to hear from people who use and have used these E.P.s with short f/ratio newtoians scopes to f/8 refractors to f/10 SCTs.

Losmandy Mount Grease!

What type of grease is std. grease. I cleaned my 8 year old G-11 per instructions from the losmandy page and now need to grease the bearings. It said to use standard grease. Can anybody tell me what that is?

ST-4 question!

I was getting to know how my autoguider worked with my guidescope and was monitering the guiders performance through my guiding eyepiece through the main scope. I noticed that the guider did not guide as accuratly as I do manually. Would a barlow help with this accuracy. My guide scope is a 70mm f/8 and the main scope is a C-11 @f/6.

400 speed film

Well MI got pounded this past Monday with a lot of the white stuff. It started to melt and then froze. It was the smoothest and slickest ice I have ever seen. My Ford 4 cyl 5 speed could spin the tires in 5th gear!
