Item not selling...Hmmm...jack up the price

Posted By Kurt Endres

Has anyone ever noticed an item on AM that is not selling, then gets re-submitted at an even higher price? I've seen this a few times now...just doesn't make sense :S

C9.25 or C11

Posted By Kurt Endres

I used to have a C8 but got rid of it due to unsatisfactory images. Now, I'm wondering if it was more lack of knowledge of the design, than a problem with the scope :S Anyway, I'm considering getting another compound, but this time, I'm looking into the C9.25 and C11. Which would you choose? also...Carbon fiber or Aluminum? Other than looks, Any real advantage to CF? Appears that Celestron has discontinued them.

Will be using with a DM-6 Alt/az, which should be able to handle either one.

Thanks.....

Well...this is a first....

Posted By Kurt Endres

Last week I purchased an eyepiece from another AM member...I received it on the 15th (Monday). This is the second time that I've bought (without issues) an item from him. Anyway, yesterday, I noticed that he had pulled the rating that he had given me for this transaction shocked The only reason that I can think of for this...is that I've yet to leave him a rating for this sale. I explained to him in an e-mail that it was just received on Monday, and that the weather hasn't been good enough for me to evaluate the eyepiece. I also stated that I never leave feedback until I'm sure that everything is in order, but had every intention of leaving it for him. So far, I have had no response to this email.

Now.... I'm wondering if I should even bother. He could have contacted me to find out why, but didn't. To take this action after just a few days seems very childish :S

BTW...I thought that ratings couldn't be changed after being submitted???

User not found?

Posted By Kurt Endres

In the past, and just recently, I've had a few inquiries on equipment where the email says " This email was sent by registered Astromart user XXXXXX-XXXXX - XXXXXXXXXXXXX (XXXXXX XXXX, XX) via Astromart's email ad response system."

When I checked the User profile function (as I always do) here on AM, no profile/Account is found. Any idea as to why this happens? Is the inquiry from a bogus outside source?

AM member refusing to reply after accepting money

Posted By Kurt Endres

I hate to do this, but I feel that I've been left no choice.

Approximately 2 months ago I sent AM member Richard Davis ( Woodsman on CN ) a deposit for one of his custom eyepiece cases. There was a slight delay in building it (original quoted time was 2 weeks) because he had to wait to get the specified wood, and I was understanding of that. Anyway, on may 18th, Richard contacted me and stated that he had received the rest of the materials needed for completion and that he would keep me informed of the progress....never heard from him. After numerous attempts to contact Richard, I have yet to receive a reply :C I actually, out of concern for him, posted on CN to see if anyone had heard from him lately as I felt that maybe something was wrong- he hadn't posted in a while.

Well, this morning, I found out that he has been posting over here in the politics forum . I immediately sent him a message...and again have been ignored. I Really didn't think that Richard was a person of questionable character, but now?

Sometimes a little communication works wonders :S

The "Best" eyepiece

Posted By Kurt Endres

I think you mean the 31mm Nagler. I have never used one but reports say it's very well corrected with a large field of view, probably well suited for your scope. But very expensive at $600.00 plus.

I hope you don't mind, Jim but I sent that first picture to my wife at work. Everyone thought it was so cute. It is now the office screen saver.

FED-EX == NO PST scope

Posted By Kurt Endres

I had a similar situation with FED-EX. In my case it was a $1800.00 guitar. I kept checking the tracking status, and at roughly 5pm Fed-Ex tracking said it was delivered. Well it wasn't,I was home all day and never saw them. When I called to tell them of the problem, they ended up putting a trace on it. It turns out they delivered to a different address in a different zipcode.

Burgess 6mm Planetary EPs

Don't forget, this is not the final design for this eyepiece. That is why they were being sold for $49.00. I talked to Thomas Back about these. He told me that a slight design change is going to make them better than they already are. smile
