My LX-200 on NEW Wheelie platform

Posted By Arthur Stratton

Hello, Peter
Thanks for the kind coments. If you or any one is interested in making on for them self. I would be glad to share the details. I took digital photos of the whole process just in case some one else wanted to make one. Total cost was around $70.00 to build. Of course I will offer the parts list to make it as well.
I have attached a better shot of the platform, Please view

May 25th: a prominence

Posted By Arthur Stratton

Hello Gianluca
WOW, what a good shot.

I too captured this prominence from my home in Greenville, SC. I had the day off from work so thought I would play with my NEW Coronado PST. My photo is only a single shot using my Fuji S-3000 digital camera with eyepiece projection with a Meade 20mm Super plossl attached my means of a Digi-T adapter into a Shorty 2X barlow. But still not too shabby.

Enjoy, Arthur Stratton

MASP 2006: any word?

Posted By Arthur Stratton

Hello Jay
Nope, not yet! I keep checking the MASP web site from time to time , but no new updates. I believe it's because that Mr. John Dilday does not have someone to keep the web site updated.

Will just have to keep looking as the time grows closer to October for the updates. Hope to meet up with you there, I will arrive on Monday and stay till Sunday.

Allright...who angered the rain Gods?

Posted By Arthur Stratton

Hello John
I too am suppose to attend the PSSG next week and I have been watching the weather forecast just as you have and been pretty bummed out.
You would think that a week long Star party you would get a couple of good night at the least. Not so it would seem this year at the PSSG.

I am not sure what to do! Either go and stay in my rain soggy tent for days just because I spent $170.00 for the event in advance. Or stay home in comfort and dream about what the Star party might have been.
I guess I'll keep watching the weather reports for the next couple of days and hope for a miracle.

Transit image and story

Posted By Arthur Stratton

All that, for that! No, kidding aside that's and incredible story. Had me laughing so hard I could hardly stand it.
And a pretty good photo too I might add. Good going Tom I know how you felt. There is nothing worse that going out and trying for the shot of a lifetime and then have everything just fall to pieces.
But clear thinking on your part pulled it off.

Hello Bill

The easiest and cheapest way is to purchasing a Meade electronic eyepiece for this project. The MEE gives really good views of the Sun's surface in real time to your TV or monitor. I used a TV/VCR combo with my setup.
Attached is one example of what I did with mine. Hope this helps you.
