Takahashi accesories...a must or optional??

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

If I acquire a TAK TSA-102 refractor, would I need to purchase Takahashi accesories; like finder, finder bracket, ota rings, diagonal; exclusively? Or are there more economical options that would work well with this scope? Thanks!

Wait time for an AP140?

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

I realize the wait list started last year, but what is an estimate of the wait time to receive an AP 140 if I put my name on the list?

Copan International Star Party

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

Hello,

An organization called Project Honduras (www.projecthonduras.com) is preparing the first Copan International Star Party. This event would take place near the Mayan city ruins of Copan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copan), a World Heritage Site, located in western Honduras, 12 kms from the border with Guatemala. The area is well serviced by numerous hotels that tend to tourists from all over the world, local and international cuisine restaurants, sight-seeing expeditions, internet cafes, museums, etc.

Copan city is a two-hour drive from from the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula, which in turn is a two-hour flight away from Miami, Florida. The area is known for its dark skies and fair weather. Given the combination of tourism/sight-seeing and astronomy activities, it appears to be an event that could draw interest from international amateur astronomers. I'd like to gauge interest in such an event, and I'd be interested in hearing from all interested parties.

You can learn more about Copan and the Mayan civilization here:

thanks,

Francisco

Schröter's Valley

Hi Wes,

I think you should write an article, or maybe even a book, on celestial imaging and image processing techniques. I've been blown away everytime I look at your efforts. They're just simply outstanding. This particular image is the best I've seen of this section of the moon. Keep up the awesome job!

A fan,
Francisco
