Just finished flocking my dob, pictures included.

I guess I don't make a big enough contribution $$$ to my website provider so I exceeded my bandwith! No need to worry try this link to the pictures: http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/shmals33/album?.dir=/c89e

Heres the Text that goes with each picture:

1. A picture of the inside of the OTA prior to flocking.

2. Another picture of the inside of the OTA prior to flocking.

3. One final look at the inside of the OTA.

4. The OTA disassembled and cleaned.

5. The flocking paper cut to the exact length and width I will need to cover the inside of the scope.

6. An image showing the back of the flocking paper.

7. The flocking paper cut into 3 equal proportions to make it easier to install.

8. After installing the first of three pieces of the flocking paper you can already see the difference, depending on your monitor you should be able to see a clear difference between the front and back of the OTA. I drew in lines and dots to show where the distinction is.

9. A flash picture of the partially flocked OTA. As you can see it was harder than I thought and I have a few wrinkles on one side. I figured if anyone asked I would just call them "special baffles"

10. I was able to smooth the wrinkles out some by slicing some open some of the air bubbles with an exacto knife and smoothing it out again. You can see the cuts in this picture where the yellow lines are drawn but without a flashlight its so dark you cannot even see the wrinkles or cuts.

11. Another picture showing the distinction between the flocked part of the tube and the unflocked
part of the tube. The yellow line points to the break between them.

12. Another image showing the wrinkles after they were cut and smoothed out.

13. Ooops, You can see now the whole tube is flocked. The rest of the tube went better so being the perfectionist I am, I cut out the bad wrinkled and cut portion of the flocking paper I first installed and replaced it. You can see the elmers glue I put on to help the adhesive already on the paper.

14. Showing the completed tube. The very bright flash makes it look like a bright surface but I can not even see my hand when it is halfway down the tube even when the light is on!

15. Same picture as above but without the flash. The tube is incredibly dark.

16.A final picture showing the tube completely finished.

I would save up and get the Telrad, it will be worth it, the only real concern is it is heavier and would add to the weight at the end of the OTA.
