5th Annual Walk Through the Solar System(MN/IA)

It's free and you're invited. South Central Minnesota in the town of Hollandale. Celebrate National Astronomy Day on Saturday, April 24, 2004 by attending a true-to-scale solar system. The SAME scale is used for the planets' diameters and separations. Allow 30 minutes for the round trip from the Sun to Pluto and back. Walk any time between 8 and 10 PM, if sky is clear, each planet visble will have a scope pointed at it. Chat for more info.

Southern MN Triple Shadow Viewing 3-28-04

Everyone is invited to a public viewing of the Jupiter triple shadow transit this weekend. It's at the Albert Lea, Minnesota high school parking lot and starts at 2:00 AM. Up to four scopes (4,6,8,10")and 2-3 video monitors will be used. Reply to this posting for more detailed directions.

A business idea-Dovetail Bracket Clones

Maybe somebody out there is already doing this, I don't know. I would think (with my brillaint business mind)somebody could make a few bucks making copies of the various small dovetail shoes out there on the market. They'd be so easy to crank with computerized machining tools. Example: I'd buy 3 or 4 dovetail shoes like those used for Orion's finder brackets.

Anyone Ever Opened Up An Astroscan?

I found out, much to my horror, that I neglected to put my dust cap in the focuser the last time I used my old Astroscan. I looked in it today and the secondary is filthy. Is there anything to pulling the optical window other than the big split ring needing removed? I use this Astroscan as a telephoto lens for my camcorder and digital eyepiece using eyepiece projection. Thanks.
