Registax alignment Help

Posted By Vishnu Kanupuru

Hello Everyone

I am trying to align and stack a few images I have in Registax but when I select a crater in the center the rest of the image doesnt get aligned and I get a radial pattern moving out from the center crater which was taken for alignment. Is there anyway I can select multiple points to over come this. I have attached an example.
Please help.

Noise Reduction: Is it worth It?

Posted By Vishnu Kanupuru

Hello Everyone,

I have been looking for a way to get rid of some of the noise in my moon images taken with digital camera and came across this nifty shareware called NeatImage. Although it removes the noise I kind of find that a bit of detail is lost too. The Raw Image is posted below and the processed one in the next post in the same thread. Any comments on whether the noise reduction is worth it?

Re: Tube for 10

Posted By Vishnu Kanupuru

Hi Dave,

Looks like a Meade mirror off ebay outlet? I got one of those and am planning to build a dob around it. Here is what I did so far. I downloaded a copy of Newt software and designed my OTA in that using the primary and secondary mirror I got. The made the parts list and so far the ones below.

OTA
12"x48" sono tube from local hardware store: 8$
Spider and Secondary holder from Destiny ebay store: 26$ Shipped
2" Rack and Pinion Focuser: 30$ shipped from Astromart
Primary Mirror Cell: I am going to make it myself. Plop software helps a lot in making simple design
Finder: Have finders lying around
Dob Mount: Homemade
Teflon, edge rings, altitude bearings

I am thinking the total cost of the project including the mirror and secondary to be somewhere around 400$
good luck and keep us posted.

Science and Imaging

Hello Everyone,

I really enjoy the impressive images being taken by the members of this forum. Just curious. How many of you actually submit these images for any kind of archiving or scientific analysis to organizations like ALPO or other organizations?

My first astro image

Posted By Vishnu Kanupuru

Hello Mike

Great shot of the moon. I have just started shooting the moon with a setup similar to yours (digital+eyepiece projection+telescope). I normally focus with the telescope first and after I get the image clear on the screen I do a continuous focus...I have been having more problems with getting the right exposure as everything looks great on the small LCD and not so great when I put it on my PC. Once I get that calibrated I should get better images.
Some of my first images are posted a few posts below.
Good luck.

Nice images Yu! I dont feel they are in anyway that they are over processed! Might want to scale the images a bit smaller.
