Science and Atkins

Posted By Andrew Settimio

He one of my examples of science having establish paradims
that resist change, except after being repeatabled challenged by the unorthodox.

A year and a half ago I had Extremely high Blood Presure, I Blood was taken and evaluated.

5'10" - 36" Waist
BP 140/100-160/118 - Yes! Critical
Cloresterol -231 -trigliceride 323
Weight 212 - Fat 30%
Caloric intake 1800

My Docter prescribed 3 different pills for B.P. and Choresterol. I was to be on then forever. Against my doctors advice, and dominate scientific culture I went on Atkins. Example food for the day- 6-8 pieces of bacon and 3 eggs for breakfast, Seafood Bisque for lunch or Hooter wings (naked & wet). Blackened Steak Sald for dinner. I like Fat portion of steak because they have the most flavor.

I quit taking the medicine because of the side effects
Blood work was redone last month-

32" waist
B.P 120/80 - Excellent
Cloresterol 189 -trigliceride 100 -Ration 3.2 - Excellent
Weight 187 - 10% Bodyfat
Caloric intake 2200-2500

I have actuall regained muscular form and definition,
yes the old "6-pack".

My Doctor still has a hard time believing, but is beginnign to ask me more questions, and is seeing
things a little different.

These results are being repeated all over America, yet most science dietitians do not believe the results. They attack them as " a calorie is a calorie" and "a high fat diet is dangerous" without questioning their paradim about fat intake and current diet norms based on evidence. They ignore it!

Why? Is it really Science they are believing or orthodoxy!

Bill, Chris,

I'm pretty busy running a Company, Hocky Games, Seasonal Parties, working out, raising kids, not to mention a brand new Nexstar11 which just arrived last week.

But I am curious. and try and pop in when I can. This forum moves very quickly and it difficult to keep up with it.

I try and work while in the forum and get distracted, (My Business has grown 300% in the last year). Glenn is exactly right. I was in this forum when I signed in and was taken to a different forum but did not bother to pay attention when I posted.

OR...........

I'm busy keeping Bin Laden in a safe house till October of next year when I'm supose to release him to help Bush's reelection. His poor Grammer and Spelling is rubbing off on me. He keeps bugging me to play some kind of joke on the sharpest segement of the population in the world know as the Philosphy and Religion and Politics Forum on astomart.

Take your pick, either one works for me.

Inexspensive Binoviewing

Posted By Andrew Settimio

I have been haveing a blast with my TAL100R Achromat Refracter, 25mm TAL Plossl(Konig?) E.P. and BN binoviewers.

Saturn is sharp tonight showing more detail then I can see with my Pentax xl line of E.P. I had Harry make me a 1.8x OCA and a 5x OCA, so I could maximize my excellent 25mm TALs. I love the 25mm, it compares well agianst the Pentax XL line, it's even parfocal with them.

Orion nebula showed a lot of nebulosity, even from suburban sky's.

Saturn showed 4 moons last night, but only 3 tonight and several bands on the surface. The cassini division was black and sharp. The gap between the ring and planet was black as well. This was with the 5x OCA producing 200x for my 100mm x1000mm refractor

It's amazing how much light is not lost when using the binoviewers with the OCA. You cannot tell by contrast loss if the OCA is in or not.

I'm having a 3x OCA made to cover the gap between 1.8x and 5x.

Total

TAL100R - $365
2xTAL 25mm $40 (Web Special)
BN with 1.8 and 5x OCA $469
I use a Atlas and TAL mounts.

Buying different x OCA's is a excellent way to maximize
buying power while getting excellent results.

Jupiter report on this setup soon.

5.2mm Pentax vs. Bino 5x oca 25mm

Posted By Andrew Settimio

I can get a better planary views with a BN binoviewer with a 5x OCA and a set 25mm Tal E.P. over a single 5.2mm Pentax XL.

Saturn showed a crisper image with a several bands on the surface with the BN and 5x OCA with 25mm Tal E.P.

The Pentax 5.2 mm was fuzzy, and did not show the same detail and only 2 moon, with a hint 3 with adverted vision.

Anyone else seeing better views with some low end paired E.P. vs a premiunm single E.P.

Who's really greedy.

Posted By Andrew Settimio

Envy -

A feeling of discontent and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with desire for the possessions or qualities of another.

Greed -

An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or DESERVES, especially with respect to material wealth.

By definition , It could be said the poor get exactly what they deserve when they produce nothing and get nothing.
So, by definition the poor who get subsidised housing, medicine, food, education, are all..........greedy.

I can't help to notice all the Telescope Manufacters
in the USA. Look at Astromart Sponsers and you see so many
producers of Telescopes and Telescope accesories. Many
small operations.

Does this also exsit in Europe an Asia? How about Canada,
or South America?

Are there independent enterprises poping up in these countries as well? Not just talking resellers, but innovative products that people want?

Tsunami Victims-Who's actually providing Relief?

Posted By Andrew Settimio

Doctors cannot treat starvation, bad water, poor sanitation.

So far China is getting a lesson in that promising aid being so easiy. Delivering aid takes America. As of yesterday they had delivered one cargo plan of supplies and some medical teams.

Not is Abe Lincoln a great president that once divided a nation, it is a great warship delivering relief to areas big planes/ships cannot get to.

Talk is cheap. In the end (not first 72 hours) we will see who actually sent relivent aid, and who responded with useless talk.
