If you watched that video, and all you took away is his commentary on mispronouncing foreign names, you missed the point entirely. The main point is that GOP politics revolves around manufacturing culture wars to outrage their constituency. Democrats do it somewhat too, but Republicans do it all the time. They are constantly bouncing from one fake or inconsequential reactionary irritation to another. It's an exhausting spectacle.
David Parkman also points out that the desire to teach the history of how communism has oppressed people is hardly a priority for Florida, given they have real and consequential problems to address. I find it a bit funny that DeSantis thinks that teaching the history of legalized segregation and how it oppressed people is awful, and we must ban it from our schools. But we should mandate studying how communism has oppressed people in our schools? Tell me you're manufacturing culture wars without telling me you're manufacturing culture wars.
