That said, NATO has not expanded to Russia's borders from where they've already been and, needless to say, there's never been any threats directed against Russia from NATO. This IS Putin talking point (along with "de-natizifying" Ukraine insanity) and is the same crazy rhetoric coming from Paul regarding NATO...

We already saw what isolationism did for us and the rest of the world before we joined in world war 2.  Putin is clearly the aggressor in invading a sovereign Ukraine and that's been on his radar long before NATO became one of his reasons for doing so. One of his commanders stated last week that Putin's issued orders to invade Moldova next so he's not stopping. And that's why he needs to be stopped hard and fast now before more of Europe is attacked by him. We need a unified voice of support in congress instead of Rand Paul's favorable Putin rhetoric being broadcast on Russian TV along with Tucker Carlson and other right wing nutjobs. I agree with Mitt Romney that Putin needs to be scared of us and not the other way around...

One of the big surprises to me is how inept the Russian army seems to be. The downside of that is that it could make Putin more likely to use his nukes should he be stomped by the west if he tries to push past Ukraine.  Hopefully cooler heads in their government and military will prevail.
