Re: Latest news: Iran and Missiles with Nukes

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

It's not surprising at all. They are probably next on Bush's list if he can ever finish with Iraq. In Iran the moderates making great strides toward taking power from the Clerics that run the country before the war in Iraq. That movement has been crushed as a result of the war.

Kerry to Give Dems Leftover Campaign Cash

Party leaders, including some of Kerry's top campaign aides, said this week they were surprised and angry to learn that he had more than $15 million in accounts from the Democratic primaries. They demanded to know why the money wasn't spent to help Kerry defeat President Bush or to aid congressional candidates.

Not very humorous and not very tasteful. I don't like this sort of trash from the left any more than I like the same sort of thing from the right.

This I liked and I'm on the liberal side of center on a lot of issues:

I sell on the Internet and had occasion report an attempt to defraud me with the Nigerian scam. The local FBI office sent me to this site which has information about Internet fraud that might be helpful to anyone who does business on the Internet.

No Ethic Left Behind

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

The right complained bitterly when Dan Rater aired a story without checking it carefully. Here's a story about a conservative commentator bought and paid for to promote "No Child Left Behind". It makes you wonder how much any newsman who promotes the Bush government's agenda is being paid. Using tax money for bribes is a new low even for the Bush crew.

Tax-Funded White House PR Effort Questioned

Williams, who is African American, was hired by Ketchum in late 2003 to build support among minorities for the president's education plan. He praised the program in columns and on television without disclosing the payments.

Williams is the host of a syndicated television show and a frequent guest on CNN, NBC and other media outlets, and writes a syndicated opinion column. His website describes him as a "principled voice for conservatives and Christian values in America's public debates" who brings "an independent view with a refreshing twist to the central issues of our day."

But the subcontract also included several unorthodox provisions, according to a copy of the contract released under the Freedom of Information Act.

First, it stipulated that Ketchum "shall arrange for Mr. Williams to regularly comment" on the law during his broadcasts. It also called for Williams to use his influence with "America's Black Forum," a public affairs television program aimed at African Americans, to encourage producers to "periodically address"' the law.

Second, the contract gave Paige and other department officials the right to appear from "time to time" as guests on Williams' programs. Paige apparently exercised this option at least once in a one-hour interview on a show called "On Point," education officials said.

Score one for Geroge!

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

It appears that the Iraqi elections went better than expected. That's a big step and great news for Bush and for America. Congratulations are in order for our troops who did an incredible job providing security.

If things continue to go as well in Iraq, I may need some nice recipes for crow. sad
