Here's a couple of things we might learn.
1) Our politicians are honest. They won't deceive us or lead us astray. They surely won't do things that are only in their self-interest.
2) And by now we know that experts write constantly. The things (links and articles) they write are fact! Politics, economics, you read it, you believe it!

A few years ago, a couple (AHEM!) of people here tried their best to argue my statistically small chance of screwing up with my gun was actually the same as that mixture of people no matter how much I trained! They claimed the odds were against me! Even though that group included plenty of unsafe (!) people.
