Washington Mutual bank

Posted By Michael Koons

Why yes Brett I have had fun with Washington Mutual. My mortgage was prior with them and I live in a flood zone. Initially their requirements were for the amount of the exposure they had and then magically 2 years later they increased to the full appraised(their figures), value which doubled the flood insurance which incidentally they placed a rider on my mortgage to get drawn from my account. I called to argue and I was directed to the "as we may determine from time to time" clause. Needless to say. Washington Mutual will never have another penny of mine.

Planetary viewing

Bennett,
I just got my awaited 9mm TMB super-monos, I was shocked. Very sharp and white. Eyerelief was very comfortable, even with my wife for eyeglasses. I've used TV plossls, radians, naglers, orthos's, konigs, panoptics. These, for planetary take the cake. If I did not have a driven mount I'd still own a pair for 200X viewing, they're that good.

Another Repub Investigated

Rod,
I was just wondering if there is any GOOD news? Logging on is getting a bit depressing, there are plenty of nasty politicians on both sides of the aisle, lets find some good ones to back, I personally like the Dennis K..m23uw, heck I can't spell his name but he was a Democrat candidate for President the last cycle with a ton of common sense good ideas. Term limits is surely the only answer.

Elections Over/Oil Prices Way Up

Posted By Michael Koons

Rod,
not a snowballs chance in h#!@. The new majority will have hearings, alternatives and windfall taxes quicker than you can say cheese if it starts back up again. As I recall when Clinton was in office, there was a run up, subsequently an inquiry into gouging and prices eased fairly directly. Not now!

Fidelity 401k loan from hell

Posted By Michael Koons

Doug,
is the 401(K) with your current company? If so, contact your plan administrator, or is this a rollover into an IRA?

Interference in the Market

Posted By Michael Koons

The mission of the Federal Reserve
The goals of monetary policy are spelled out in the Federal Reserve Act, which specifies that the Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market
Committee should seek “to promote effectively the goals of maximum
employment, stable prices, and moderate long-term interest rates.”

Nothing in here about stablilizing an overvalued stock market. This should only result in a delay for a well needed rest and will make more intense further declines because it helps too many people hold on when these unbalances should routinely be worked out.

It strikes me that all the cutting of interest rates and proposed stimulous packages will do is artificially prop up a stock market and real estate market. I'd really like to see home and condo prices hit rock bottom before making a purchase decision.

I heard on the radio that 75% of the home mortgages going to foreclosure had some kind of fraudulent information on their loan applications (overstated incomes, etc.) Why should we prop up these people and their banks? Aren't these the same banks that charge usurous interest rates for credit cards? Aren't these the same banks that'll try to charge you $29 if you are one day late with a payment because their website had problems? Aren't these the same banks that make you press '1' for English? And, aren't these the same people who think that their Lexus is supposed to go first at intersections with a four way stop simply because it's the more expensive car? You can't get fire sale prices if there isn't a fire! Maybe the banks and the frauds should get burned? wink

Why Don't The Radio Talkers Like McCain?

In the words of Rush himself "follow the money", I don't think you'll find the trail leading to John M in amounts comfortable enough to make them think he can be unduly bought off!
