Looking for Wilsonart #50 laminate

Posted By Steve Sands

Doug,

ScopeStuff sells ebony star laminate: http://www.scopestuff.com/#ATM%20Stuff

I have used this before and it is quite effective. They sell "bearing kits", but you might contact them and ask for a specific size. They have accomomdated me when I have made special requests before.

John,

The only Forums settings I am aware of are under "Display Preferences" at the upper left of your screen. You can scroll down to Forums and see what settings are available (i.e. Flat, Threaded, etc).

That would be the first step, anyway.

FRP cement

Posted By Steve Sands

Stephen,

I always use contact cement when applying FRP. It comes in pint and quart cans at your neighborhood hardware store. You coat BOTH surfaces with a foam brush and then let that DRY. After both contact surfaces are dry (I know, this seems counterintuitive, but trust me on this one!), stick them together and rub to work out any bubbles. CAUTION: You will NOT be able to pull them back apart once they are contacted so get it right the first time!! 8O

No Rating For Fee Item

Yep, some people are definitely clods. The last guy I dealt with (and it was a perfect transaction) had given 1 rating for about every 5 he has received. I gave him a 5-star rating, but deleted it today after no reciprocation in 5 weeks. Rating seems like such a simple thing to do.

Eyepiece Dew

I use the disposable heat packs, specifically "Hot Hands" (Made in the good ole U.S.of A!) in my coat pockets. From my experience, this brand lasts longer than others that I have tried. Also, if you are done observing they can be placed into an airtight ZipLock bag and used again at a later time. They are air-activated. I can usually get 6-8 hours out of them. In a pinch the heat packs can be attached around your eyepiece with a rubber band. Low tech wins!!

Use tape to attach laminate to bottom of rocker bo

I have FRP on a couple of my larger dobs and have never ever needed to replace it, so I am puzzled by this statement! On my 20" the FRP is several years old, had lots of use and shows absolutely no signs of wear.

Pictures won't Load???

Posted By Steve Sands

All I can tell you is that 99.99999% of the time it is due to the image being too large. 500,000KB is the max an image can be to upload. Try scaling the picture size down and then uploading. It could be a temporary system issue, but image size is usually the culprit. Also, be sure that it is a JPG.

Hope that helps.
