Flynn Resigns!

I told you this guy was unhinged. The Ruskies could have worked him and we couldn't take that chance. Obama was right in getting rid of this guy in the first place!

Honestly, what this administration needs badly is to appoint some long-time establishment Republicans with unassailable credentials to help calm things down and get the business of running the government back on track. There has got to be some experienced folks from the Bush administration that share enough of his foreign policy views to be palatable. If he doesn't do something his agenda is going to take a hit because his political mandate from the election will be spent fighting these ridiculous battles. He needs to re-establish the confidence of the American people.

Even Fox News Can Recognize Reality...

Sorry Rod, but CNN has gone off the deep-end with the Trump coverage. If you look at their site regularly almost every story is a negative one about Trump and the headlines could come directly from one of the liberal rags. As far as I am concerned, CNN should be banned from even the regular WH briefings until their behavior improves. There are plenty of other reporters from non-right leaning outlets (ABC, NBC, WashPo, etc) still represented there. Being on the WH briefing room should be privilege, not a right.

Both houses of Congress and the Executive branch and they can't pass their own stinking bill. I especially like the way they pushed it through committee without any public hearings from doctors, patients, and other health care experts.

Must be Obama's fault.

BYW - is this forum dead like all of the others? With all of the great terrific things happening in DC and you guys have nothing to say about it? Or are you all just waiting and ready to pounce? Go ahead.

So what's next? A big huge tax cut for the 1%? It's too bad they couldn't give them those huge tax credits for health care they so desperately need.

What's ironic is the Republican "freedom caucus", supposedly the most conservative (self-proclaimed), just effectively made Obamacare permanent and let federal funding for Planned parenthood continue. Looks like Obama's legacy will continue.

She stated in her testimony that she came forward at the last minute to stop him from getting seated on the SCOTUS.

I think she's either completely mistaken, due to her mental condition, or she's been co-opted by the lying Dems.

Either way, he defended himself well today.  I believe him totally after the hearing.

She was caught lying.  She's lost a lot of her credibility.   AD needs to rethink it.  He doesn't have the understanding of just what low-lifes these Dems are.

Richard,

I have not gone back and read all your post history but what is your opposition to the FBI check?  Multiple people have said it's a joke anyway, so why not just do it for political purposes to secure the votes of Collins and Murkowski?  I'm not advocating, I'm just asking your point of view.

My thought was that they would intimidate Manchin and tell him "look pal, you better go along with us, or when we get power, you will be useless, and will get no committee appointments".

I was wrong, but I was pretty close!   HA!  smile

My prediction:  Flake will say he's not voting yea, UNLESS they have an FBI investigation.  Then he'll say "it'll only take a few days".

The Dems have already spoken w/the FBI and they've agreed to start an investigation.  It should take about as long as the Mueller investigation.

If the Repubs don't agree, the Dems will now be able to say they are Obstructionists and aren't team players.  They'll claim that the Repubs aren't "bipartisan", and are just ramming the nominee through.

The press of course will agree and they will attack Republicans as being obstructionists to the Truth.

They are completely easy to read.  Any fool can read their playbook.

In the interim of the next week, suddenly 4 more "credible" witnesses will come forth and say he raped them or tried to.

Its all orchestrated.

It was really bad form from Flake after meeting with the Democrats.  He could have just as easily made his demands privately to the GOP.  He really undercut the leadership on this one.  I guess he learned a few things from McCain.

FWIW I completely disagree with this assessment and people espousing it are not Washingtonians running the show.  Republicans are in for a thumping this mid-term and they know it.  No amount of turnout is going to change that fact, even if Kavanaugh were shot down.  Mid to long term it benefits Republicans far more with Kavanaugh on the court and even the most cybnical types would prefer him on it than having to go through another tenuous nomination process.

Darian,

It is based on polling and my reading of the more localized elections here in my area, and it is only my opinion.  I did think Clinton was going to win but mid-terms are usually a bit different and I do think the energy is on the other side this time around.  I know a bunch of Republican women here who feel kind of alienated and this is reflected in local polling for candidates like Barabara Comstock, who stands to lose significantly in a wealthy white suburb.  We may not lose the Senate, but we could, and I think we lose the house rather handily.  It may not be historic but I think the shift will be above the mid-term election norm.

James,

While I don't quite agree with many of the conclusions you came to, the long game is indeed quite a bit more important than the short game and McConnell knows this.  I don't think there's much the Republicans can do to improve their lot with women right now anyway and voters have a short memory.  Confirm Kavanaugh now and worry about the next election in a year or so.

Well you live in a bubble and these are general elections.  There are plenty of women in the middle who are going to sway one way or another and they are going to determine the outcome of this midterm.  Those women are polling decidedly the other way.  I don't expect to attract metoo activists and they are as irrelevant to this discussion as your die hard Trump supporters.
