Opposing curiosities

James,
And we knew what a slimeball this guy was from the beginning decades before and yet we still had shared intent regarding Iran and the mideast. As such, in Iran, people blame the U.S. for the Iran/Iraq war. The bio/chem weapons technology used against them they know were provided by the U.S. and the training to use them also.

Isn't it time we stopped intruding into other countries political affairs. We think to highly of ourselves and often end up acting like the proverbial elephant, hiding our own butt because it stinks from our past indulgences.

Conspiracy? If the intelligence data was intentionally and falsely "enhanced" by the policy/decision makers..then that's a conspiracy, is it not?

YES..it is excellent! McNamara's "amazement" in finally! realizing that the N.Vietnamese were, in their view, fighting for nothing more than a "patriotic" war, i.e. to drive us out, is a very telling scene.
I would also suggest a reading (or rereading) of John Steinbecks "The Moon is Down". It is pertinent to todays situation in Iraq..amazingly so.

What should we expect? Money speaks. We can see the Network executives looking over employee shoulders. Who is going to ask hard questions, who is going to cause a "scene"? Certainly not the mainstream media. Certainly not Barbara Walters.

Sad that they didn't have a call in for 3-4 hours, unscreened, from the American people or from soldiers actually involved in the fighting. Personally, I'd like to have Laura B. tell me why my daughters should have to die fighting for Iraq.
I'd like to ask her why HER daughters aren't over there enjoying the night life in Bhagdad. Afghanistan I could at least understand as us having a moral legal motive.

Ditto with my regard of the presidents recent public statements regarding the overhaul of S.Security. Wall Street is slobbering on itself trying to get it's hands on brokerage management fees of the Social Security billions. This president farms special interest fat pigs at the public trough.

"Let them eat cake". It's high time for another revolution. We could avoid that by initiating impeachment precedings.

:S Greetings from California..eh.. "surging toooo two dollars a gallon"..? I haven't seen a gallon of gas sell around here for less than $2.00 in two-three years. Of course we are in what is called a tourist/scenic area and suffer higher gasoline rates because of it.

Otherwise..on another but similar note...
California will not allow importation of VW Rabbit diesel powered vehicles...which achieve 70mpg's..but somehow allow consumers to buy diesel powered 1 ton trucks to their hearts content. Bizarro.

Given the btu's of diesel fuel (near twice that of gasoline), the decrease in refining costs (waste), is it not logical to design power plants for hybrid vehicles using diesel/electric combo's instead of gasloline/electric? I'd bet d/e = 120 mpg's vs 70 mpg's for g/e.

Tell me Tom, why should Bush crow!
This has nothing to do with the original justifications for a preemptive attack on Iraq. It doesn't change the fact that there were no WMD's and this administration knew it. Our soldiers fighting in Iraq, risking their lives, and the American people, were told they were doing so, because Iraq was an imminent threat to U.S. security, which it was not. Upon this Presidents current justification for war..bringing democracy to a totalitarian state..I can only ask..who's next on the agenda? China? Saudia Arabia?, N.Korea?
This president has nothing to crow about, he lied us into an expensive and bloody war for the wrong reasons. The fact that Iraqi's might have the beginning of democracy in THEIR country is not justification for American kids dying over there. Let them fight their own damn war of independence from SH.
