Heck, CA and TX alone account for 1/3 of them. All of those states are already solidly blue or red. If illegal immigrants are voting improperly in federal elections, it has to be a tiny amount. Every study in recent memory that has looked at voter fraud in national elections has found only vanishingly small amounts. There is no way that illegal immigrants are swaying federal elections. I cannot make it pass the common-sense test.
If Republicans are worried about COVID, I suggest they get themselves and their friends and families vaccinated and stop resisting common-sense mitigation strategies like masking and social distancing.
If Republicans are worried about illegal immigrants taking jobs and not paying their fair share, and so forth and so on, I suggest they get behind common-sense immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship.
If Republicans are worried about losing votes, I suggest they stop nominating narcissistic incompetent demagogues for federal offices. Maybe they could start showing that they are a competent ruling party with actual policies and principles that make sense and appeal to a broad base of voters?
It's probably not a good idea to use illegal immigrants as a scapegoat. That's only going to work for so long. It can even work against you and alienate voters who have ties to the immigrant community. Keep in mind, Mel, I have lived in Texas my entire life, and I can tell you unequivocally that the illegal immigration problem is not nearly the national disaster the political pundits would like you to believe it is.
I think it is just goofy to argue immigration hasn't greatly changed the demographics of states, often by their countries of origin. I can usually see your arguments, but not here. I can't really continue without accusing you of being intellectually dishonest. Dems are unable to see how Biden's moves could help Dems electorally? Really! And my solution is comprehensive immigration reform! Or choose candidates the Dems like! And you don't see a problem with immigration in Texas so others should not, either? I have lived some in Texas. Only a few months at a time working but did stay there several times. I did get some sense of Texas. And Dems can use immigrants but complain about it and it is using them as "scapegoats." Thanks for letting me know it can work against me! And I'll keep in mind that Dems think things are ok in Texas.
I'll see what I can do to avoid this subject with you.
