"Obama not welcome in Vegas..."

Posted By Mike Strieber

"Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said during a hastily called news conference that Obama is no friend to Las Vegas and would not be welcomed here if he visits."

"Enough is enough!" Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley said in a statement."

"The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending their money," [Harry] Reid said."

"Democratic Rep. Dina Titus also disparaged the president's remarks..."

And that's from the Democrats. I would think based on Obama's visits to Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, Harry Reid wouldn't welcome him here either.
BTW, Obama is scheduled to come to Vegas this month for a fund raiser, that should be interesting. Nice that he tells folks to not spend their money in Vegas but comes here to collect some.

I don't get it...

Posted By Mike Strieber

Why does the media insist on attacking Sarah Palin? Everyday it's Palin this and Palin that. Really, I don't get why they see her as such a threat. MSNBC especially; they have this incredible desire to dig up everything they can about her, ridicule her, mud-sling...and she's not even in government, just an ordinary citizen at this point. This morning they were trashing her for charging a fee for speaking at some convention, implying of course this is something odd for ex-politicians….somehow they forgot to mention Clinton demands $2-300k for speaking engagements. Now MSNBC has “discovered” 3000 emails while she was governor…who gives a s**t? While the media keeps trashing her it appears to me they would want Palin to be the Republican candidate, she couldn't possibly win. I'm sick of hearing about her. I think she's is irrelevant and does not belong in government. I'm a registered Republican and would vote for Obama before I'd vote for Palin.

Mirandizing Terrorists

Posted By Mike Strieber

You know, you can make an argument either way on whether it is good policy to Mirandize terror suspects but you can't make an argument that it's good policy under Bush but not Obama. Republicans are looking pretty silly on this. My personal view is that KSM should not be put on trial in a civil court as I believe it will provide fodder for extremists around the world. More than likely his lawyers will turn it into a trial of intelligence agencies. Regardless, hypocrisy is nonpartisan; Republicans look especially bad on this one.

You gotta admit...

...it's pretty funny...and I guess real (not a photoshop). The picture is what gets me, looks sort of "Alfred E. Neuman-ish".

[A.E. Neuman]"In retrospect it becomes clear that hindsight is definitely overrated!" [or was it Bush that said that?]

Let's try this again...

Posted By Mike Strieber

Based on how I got the "Nazi-racist-neocon-warmongering-redneck-ingnorant-right-wing destroying the planet unless we act NOW!" lecture from posting a picture of Bush in jest, let's see what happens when I post this picture...in jest. I fully anticpate Karl Marx himself to rise from the grave and begin contributing to the Astromart Politics Forum. Maybe even Keith Olbermann. wink

What a coincidence...

George Will: "...with metronomic regularity, we go through these moments in Washington where we complain about the government being broken. These moments have one thing in common: The Left is having trouble enacting its agenda."

Senate to NASA: Go somewhere...

Posted By Mike Strieber

I'd have to agree. I'd like to see a clear articulated goal for manned spaceflight coming out of NASA. Either they don't have a good plan or they're just doing a poor job of communicating it. The Senate isn't impressed with their plan, nor am I.

Where's your outrage fellas? Or is it only criminal when Bush is doing it?

This is the kind of stuff...

Posted By Mike Strieber

...that proves Obama is your typical run-of-the-mill politician. Just like when he passed out white coats at one of his healthcare press conferences. He didn't need these "doctors" standing behind him to make his point; in fact his point today was more political than it was about health. Scenes like this cheapen him...as it does any president. Didn't a lot of folks vote for him because he said he wasn't one of those "standard politicians"? Come on Barack, enough with the shtick. Besides, they all look like they're about to wrap him up in a straight jacket and haul him away. That, or they got doctors from the wrong side of the aisle. Check out the look on the faces of these doctors.
