Trumps Coattails

into the toilet could be bigger than people think if even Darrell Issa in ORANGE FREAKING COUNTY is in trouble:

"There are growing signs that veteran Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, could be headed for an election dogfight.

Issa has breezed to re-election seven times since taking office in 2001, but the landscape is different this time.

His support for Donald Trump could undermine this year’s bid. The Republican edge in his two-county district’s voter registration is shrinking. And his Democratic opponent’s background as a Marine colonel holds particular appeal in a district that includes and surrounds Camp Pendleton."

Why i Hope Hillary's Lead Increases

Posted By Patrick Keafer

Russ,

This sounds like a spin-off of my theory which says the GOP would be a better check against Hillary than Trump's liberal policies, since they are more likely to oppose ones proposed by a Democrat. But I don't think a greater margin of victory for Hillary would lead to greater odds of GOP control of the Congress. Usually a larger Dem victory means a larger Dem turnout or small Republican one, and those Dems aren't voting for Republican Senators and Congressman down ticket. Do you happen to have any historical precedent for it?

Trump Tax Plan Vs Clinton Tax Plan

Rod Kaufman said:

Most Trump supporters will find themselves screwed by Trump while most Clinton supporters as well as Trump supporters will do better under Clinton:

I just thought an actual issue might be in order...t

Both plans are irresponsible. Trump's plan will increase the deficit and Clinton wants to raise taxes so she can spend more.

Welcome to Kalifornia...

This is indicative of the state of the national Republican party as well. Say what you will about how we got here but we have failed to deal with changing demographics.

A stab in the back?

I've been reading some about Obama's refusal to veto the UN Resolution condemning Israeli settlements (since 1968) in the Jewish heart of East Jerusalem and the West Bank. My initial support lies with pundits like Alan Dershowitz, who argue that this is a really big failure to support an ally.

I'm curious what Rod thinks of course, since he generally supports the Obama administration but is very pro-Israel as well. I'm curious what a lot of you think, since this is not a subject I've studied that much.

Jim

I agree that further settlements are counter-productive to the peace process but I am quite surprised the Obama administration let the vote to proceed while they are on their way out the door. It looks like they are trying to poison the well before Trump gets in office.

Unbiased News source - poll

Posted By Patrick Keafer

David Cotterell said:

So, according to some CNN is waaaaaay over there in its bias and, according to others, FoxNews is waaaaay over in the other direction in its bias.

Most people here, left and right, will assume a story is false simply because of the source.

So, let me ask, in all innocence, where do you get your news? What do you feel is an unbiased, give-both-sides news source?

Dave

The only way is to check multiple outlets, make an appraisal of the facts, and make up your own mind. I'm pretty moderate compared to some of the loons here but I have to say CNN has gone way overboard against Trump. I use to think of them as the reasonable middle-left between Fox and MSNBC, but not anymore. I think they are betting on Trump failure.

Trump's First Constitutional Challenge: Himself

He'll have to face-up to this one, whether he likes it or not:

Still awaiting word from Trump's general counsel. I hope they nail his ass, don't you?...

I think this lawsuit is a joke. To equate people paying their hotel room bill with foreign donations is just ridiculous. Essentially, any manufacturer or servicer would be excluded from Presidential eligibility because they possibly did business with a foreigner at some point. STUPID.

The Kelly ANN Conway Interview

Posted By Patrick Keafer

Rod Kaufman said:

Before you read it, consider:
1. Is she pulling back from an alternate universe?
2. Is Fox News sympathetic to her?
3. Is Fox News, news?
4. Is she feigning remorse?(about Bowling Green?)
5. Is she a bit overdone on her make-up?
See for yourself:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/07/politics/kellyanne-conway-jake-tapper-interview-cnntv/index.html

Eventually Trump is going to get sick of these clowns making him look bad on national television and will replace them with true political/PR professionals. Until then, they are making it harder for Trump to complete his agenda. Conway is a smart woman but is completely unprepared to defend the administration at this level.
