How does Meade 5K UWA compare to older 4K?

The 5000s are supposed to have somewhat better coatings. The 4000s have somewhat better fit and finish.

The optical designs are also different, but seem to be (according to what I've read) mostly a wash, except for the 14mm, which was considerably better in the old series.

Given that the 8.8 and 6.7 5000s probably have a slight optical advantage due to their coatings, and that you're happy enough with the fit and finish of your 30mm 5000, I'd go with the 5000s.

That's all from what I've read, though. I only have the 4000 6.7 and 8.8 (after which I switch to T4s and T5s).
