Nope. Democrats do not favor illegal immigration any more than anyone else does. They do tend to support a pathway for legal status for childhood arrivals and other undocumented immigrants, but this is not the same as the onerous claim that they favor illegal immigration. In fact, a supermajority of Americans favors the aforementioned policies according to most polls I've seen.

Maybe I could be convinced the people that say they are Dems hate illegal immigration yet close their eyes to the fact that their politicians encourage it for votes. But that doesn't say much for the party members.

Some prosecutors would charge the parents. It would depend on the state, county, and circumstances. Obviously, the parents didn't secure the gun or ammo. Do we charge them, too? How do you get legal gun owners to follow the rules of gun safety if they don't want to? Severe penalties? Slap on the wrist? What?
How do you gun owners think something like this can be prevented? Or, do we just have to learn to live with something like this in our gun culture?

An Oakland county, MI sheriff right now expressing frustration that somebody can fail the gun check and not be prosecuted. These people are very rarely prosecuted.

With 320 million people? Short of a total ban with the death penalty? Does not seem possible.
Some of these little towns could have almost everybody ready to follow all the laws, but how many in a city of millions are going to follow a total ban? 70% of gun owners?
Massive disobedience would be terrible for the country.
