You really think it would be safer if everyone was carrying a concealed weapon on the southside of Chicago? There would just be more dead. 
I know if I was in that part of town, I would be safer if I carried. Isn't that what matters?

Why shouldn't people have the right to defend themselves? Especially the older and weaker? Are you in 
a dream world where we can throw away our guns because nobody will need to protect themselves against other people? Are you one that does not have a gun so nobody else can have one?

You are in a dream world if you think I will be safer, if the older and weaker will be safer if law abiding people give up their guns. You are in the biggest  dream world ever if you think the bad guys will give up their guns.
Even IF bad guys gave up their guns the older and weaker would be defenseless. You aren't even trying to think this through.
Do you listen to John Lennon's IMAGINE often?
You can imagine there are more than 300 million here?

Jim, odds are that none of us will need to draw a gun. But I would feel the very lowest if there was a time when a gun would have helped (not at all impossible) and I was not ready. Call the police? Could take 10 minutes or even more. A lot of people do not want to go to the trouble to practice enough to be comfortable with a gun so they decide they are sure there will NEVER be a time when a gun might improve the situation.
Why not know how to use and be comfortable with all tools available to us? If it is never needed, wonderful!

Rich, you know dam well something like that could never happen, not possible. And if it did, while waiting for the police a guy could hide in the closet and if he found you, you could always talk him out of acting like a bad guy because he probably really isn't one.
