A relevant case in FL a while back where a man shot and killed another man over a handicap accessible parking spot dispute comes to mind. The shooter had this well-known reputation in the area for confronting people over parking in a handicapped spot. One day he encountered a lady parked illegally with her son in the car and started scolding her. Her boyfriend came out of the store, saw what was happening, and shoved him to the ground. He pulled out his gun and shot the man in the chest, killing him. The shooter got 20 years even though he claimed to stand his ground.
The man shot was defending a pregnant woman and their three children and had stepped back and turned his body. Yes, he was retreating when shot and this was caught on security video. The shooter showed no remorse during proceedings and refused an opportunity to speak. Attorney for Jacobs, Benjamin Crump, said it shows equal justice is possible in America when a white shoots and kills an unarmed black and claims protection under the racist stand your ground.
