yesterday we finished the maybe world largest Apo Binocular in germany.

The Optics are APM-LZOS 304 mm F/7.5 triplet ED Lenses

the total set up weights about 2,400 lbs.

the Mount is the APM-GE 300 , the telescope tubes and bino rotating ring has been made by Master Matthias Wirth from Germany

now its going to the buyer to China

famous PHD Astro-Physics Philipp Keller/Germany designed us a coma free 275 mm F/14 Maksutov Cassegrain Optics with 25 % central obstrction, large backfocuse and slighly figured spherical system.
The mirrors are made from high qualityx USA Quarz 8 shipped to Russia for polishing)

the Optical set will be supplied with a very light weight , very fast cooling down tube , made by famous Matthias Wirth in germany.

The telescope will get a fast secondary focuse, a high quality starlight focuser, cooling fans, a meniscus anti-dew heater

the specsof the quality ordered will be confirmed by a interferometrical testreport and they are:
1/10 wavefront p.t.v.
1/50 wavefront RMS
98.4 % strehl

delivery of the optics is planned for January 2014, the complete OTA shortly after

the final price is not fixed yet, depends on all features we install into the tubes and the exchange ratio, but it will be roughly around 20,000 to 25,000 US $

- all optical surfaces are fully broad band multicoated

this binocular is made for very high power use. It is user friendly for collimating your eyes up to above 100 power.
this binocular is a true Apo with no color and high quality spherical correction.

It is splitting double stars and showing details on planets like a real 4" doublet ED Apo, but the light gathering in this binocular is higher due 2 x 100 mm aperture and thanks to a outstanding high quality newest technology broadband multicoating.

It is accept standart 1.25" eyepieces with nebulae filters screwed in , like Tele Vue Panoptic 24 mm, Tele Vue Naglers etc.

In my new living location on north -east german coast the sky is now very darf, this new 100 mm real APO Binocular show Veil ( both parts) and north america nebulae such clear, as I have seen in 4" scopes only with UHC Filter installed.

The sharpness with Panoptics is pin point to the edge of the view and the contrast rock's+

Andrew Lunt is the founder and CEO of Lunt Solar Systems. He is also the founder and CEO of Lunt Engineering USA.

Andrew Lunt founded Lunt Solar in January of 2008 and was the manufacturing/optical manager and part owner of Coronado Filters prior to that. His main background is in the design and fabrication of large optical systems, having experience in the design, production, and installation of optical systems manufactured from Silicon, ULE, Aluminum, Silicon Carbide, and Nickel in sizes up to 1.2M that included both adaptive and cooled configurations.

Installation at New Mexico Skies was done before, now followed the installation in Tenerife on Teide the APM GE 300 direct drive mount and soon the thrid and last one of this project in Urumqui , North-West China

the Mount with piwer weight about 2200 pound, use direct drive and absolut encoders as well as the SiTech/USA controle system from Dan Gray ( a wonderful product and person )

the telescopes custom made and delivered by Officina Stellare

the focusers are the FLI Atlas Focusers
