Affordable Planetary Eyepieces

Posted By Chris Nardone

Check out the eyepiece reviews on http://www.excelsis.com

I have tried many eyepieces and tend to very much agree with the ratings there.

Digi-Scope Camera?

Posted By Chris Nardone

Robert,
I have a 4MP Sony DSC-S85 and it has a wide lens as does the Canon. Be aware that it is difficult to find an eyepiece that is wide enough to prevent vignetting. The other thing that would be nice for a digi-scope camera would be threads on the lens itself instead of on the barrel that surrounds the lens. That way any adapters would be useful though the entire zoom range. I didn't think about these features when I bought so I can't recommend camera's. But I will say most of the accessory internet sites I visit seem to favor certain Nikon models.

Here's another same camera. I really love this camera for birding. The lens is made by Leica and is f/2.8 through the entire zoom range.

Black-capped Chickadee

Jeff,
On your D100, is there a conversion factor (multiplier) for the lens focal length?
Nice picture, I love Black-Capped Chickadees. My grandfather had them tame enough to eat seeds out of our hands as kids.

Michael,
What an awesome picture! How did you get it? That must be a fast camera to be able to compose the frame, focus, and get off a well exposed shot like this. Was it a multiframe burst? What was the shutter speed? You've obviously got a good technique down to get this and the other shots you've posted.

Great picture Jeff. I am with you on the resolution thing. I am running 1280x1024 and a 800 x 600 or so fits nicely. I understand peoples frustration though with a smaller screen.
Anyways, is that a VR lens? Those D100s are nice.
