Good posts on this subject, Rich.Originally Posted by Richard Davis

Considering that revenues increased to the gov't after the tax rate cuts, and businesses hired to the point where we had the lowest unemployment rate for every demographic because of the tax rate cuts, which in turn created that many new workers who became taxpaying citizens (i.e. revenues to the gov't), and businesses gave big bonuses to people who worked for them, yes the tax rate cuts paid for themselves.
You do remember when many companies repatriated and brought their businesses and employees back to the US when they were told by President Trump if you come back you'll get to pay a one time tax (much lower than they would have under Obama)?
You remember the list of companies that gave bonuses to their workers and big raises as well, right?
Or have you forgot? There was a small pamphlet put up on the internet at one time which listed many hundreds of businesses that gave bonuses and/or raises to their workers, and they were big bonuses.
Here's one little snippet of companies who gave big bonuses, courtesy of USA Today Newspaper:

From the above article:
BONUS BABIES
Here's a list of some of the major, well-known U.S. companies that have paid out bonuses or upped pay since President Trump signed the tax reform bill into law on Dec. 22:
Company
Bonus No. of employees getting bonus
AT&T
$1,000 200,000
Alaska Airlines
$1,000 19,000
American Airlines
$1,000 130,000
Bank of America
$1,000 145,000
BB&T
$1,200 27,000
Comcast
$1,000 100,000
Fifth Third Bank
$1,000 13,500
Jet Blue
$1,000 21,000
Nationwide
$1,000 29,000
PNC Financial
$1,000 47,500
Sinclair Broadcast
$1,000 9,000
Southwest Airlines
$1,000 55,000
Travelers
$1,000 14,000
U.S. Bancorp
$1,000 60,000
Walmart
up to $1,000
And that is just a tiny snippet of the list of companies that gave big bonuses to their employees BECAUSE of the Trump tax cuts.
I guess you forgot about that, but the most likely excuse is that you never knew.
Had the Dems and Repubs not spent way too much over the past several decades, we may not have the financial conditions we are in today as a nation.
While Pres. Trump was in office what was the increase in family income over that time? How much more did each family put in their pockets under President Trump?

And don't forget, politicians do not borrow and spend! They invest for you! I'm listening to one right now that can't quit using the words, INVEST and INVESTMENT!

Even if what you posted was not factual (it is) and Trump was the biggest spender by a factor of five, the Dem argument falls flat. "Trump spent way too much so we are going to spend even more. He overspent so we will too!"Originally Posted by Greg ShafferRod puts up some whacky shit no doubt but the revisionist crap in this one is beyond the pale.....
Reality check: under the eight years of Obama/Biden, the debt doubled from $10 trillion to $20 trillion, and that was without a pandemic to deal with. They also had the first trillion-dollar deficits in history. Under Trump, the economy boomed, unemployment plummeted to record lows and there were no trillion-dollar deficits for three years. Then, China (yes, I said it) unleashed a pandemic, and the government had to spend trillions of dollars to keep the shut-down economy afloat. Democrats not only supported that spending, many complained it wasn’t nearly enough.
And now Biden actually wants us to believe that it’s Trump’s fault that we have to raise the debt limit, even as he’s pressuring Congress to pass nearly $5 trillion in additional spending.
Except of course, they are investing! Clinton was the first president that really could not stop beating the investment horse. Clinton was such a convincing liar and Biden is such an incompetent liar.

Some Dems actually believe they won't look so bad on these issues if they mention "the 6th!"
Perhaps in a year or two they will realize it is not helping them.

That might be the 4th or 5th time the only reply you could muster was to copy what I said while changing one or two words. Vacuous.

James, do you think Biden has no desire to restrict gun rights? Would you say the same about other Dems?
I remember the powerful Dianne Feinstein saying she would take them all if she could. Now she said that when she did not know it would be all over the news. But I should not be concerned? Surely other Dems would not dream of restricting my gun rights?

I suppose some would say, "Don't worry about it, the Dems don't have a big enough majority, yet."
So I think the cartoon laughing at the suggestion is dishonest.
