What object is this?

Hi All,

This image is a crop of a small area of a full frame image that Tony Hallas took a few days ago of a famous object. It is a single 20 minute exposure taken with his new large format Apogee CCD camera and an AP 206EDF refractor. No dark subtraction, no flats. If you can guess what this is, I will post the full frame.

Full M42 Luminance from Tony Hallas

This is a 1/4 size image of the full 2 panel mosaic taken by Tony Hallas with a 206EDF refractor. M42 is almost unrecognizeable in this deep image.

Interestingly, besides the amount of stuff visible in the nebula itself, the top right darker area contains about half a dozen small faint galaxies, which can be seen in the full resolution image.

This is a 1/4 size image of the full 2 panel mosaic taken by Tony Hallas with a 206EDF refractor. M42 is almost unrecognizeable in this deep image.

Bubble nebula in Hubble palette. 12" Mak-Cass, STL11K. First set of exposures, 1hr each Ha, SII, OII. Needs more exposure time.

For those who have never seen this faint star, not exactly a typical deep sky image, here is Sirius' faint companion. Image by Tony Hallas, taken with his 8" EDF refractor, single short exposure. (large up/down spike is blooming)

Moon, Venus, Jupiter from Hawaii

We had excellent conditions for the conjunction of these three, and along with the clouds it made for some interesting images. This first one is just after sunset.
