Trump's Response On Today's Kill-A-Thon...Posted By Gerald Miller |
The Court did not rule that all guns are allowed-only those guns that can be reasonably demonstrated and regularly used to defend oneself in their home.Originally Posted by Richard Davis
And ANY gun can be effective at killing. It depends upon the training of the person behind the weapon, which once again is an indicator that the gun isn't the problem, it is the psycho who is using it.
Just as the CAR or vehicle isn't the KILLING machine when it is driven into a crowd of people, the instrument of destruction is the mind of the nutjob who gets IN that vehicle and drives it into a crowd of people.
An AR-15 does not fall into that category and making them illegal is not constitutionally protected.
Why aren't fully automatic weapons legal to own, then?
If it makes sense to outlaw fully automatic weapons that same logic and reason justifies outlawing AR-15's.
And yes, any gun can be used to kill. But an AR15 is especially designed for that purpose and does so quickly, efficiently, and quickly.
There is no reason these guns should be legal to manufacture and own for consumers.
And yes, a vehicle, a screwdriver, a rock, and any number of common day items can be used to kill. But those things are not designed specifically for that purpose and are not very efficient at it, and the risk of mass killing is non-existent compared to a guy with an AR-15 walking into a church pumped up by what he watches on TV or reads on some right wing anti-Semitic website.
If it was your child killed, or parent, or grandparent, while they innocently went to worship or baptize a baby (and the baby was killed as well), along with as many people can be killed before the cops arrive and then a few of them get shot as well, you likely would reconsider your flawed logic and want them outlawed, too.
Enough killing of innocents because gun nuts think if we outlaw an AR-15, they'll come after the rest. That's the NRA talking on behalf of the gun manufacturer's and not based on reason or common sense.
