Posted By Darren Drake

Yes those are safe and now is the time to use them as the sun has two large spot groups on it.

I have the 7 and 10 XW. I find everything about them to be superb although I haven't directly compared them tho others yet. I may write a review on cloudynights.

Went with the 35mm Panoptic

Posted By Darren Drake

Why keep the 35Pan? It seems somewhat redundant and the 31 blows it away.

I think I had the same scope Charles in 1973 along with a 30X30 handheld scope I still have today.

The Moon Occults Antares, 2005/03/03

Posted By Darren Drake

Looks like you missed the best part: the reappearance. Antares B showed up 5 seconds before the main star. I watched it while on the phone with Dan Joyce who was 30 miles away. He saw them return about 30 seconds before I did. Very cool.

WHO actually makes TMB and TAK optics?

Posted By Darren Drake

I'm actually curious to know if names of the individuals are available. We know the names of the opticians of AP and Starmanster, but several other premium optical companies have to have opticians who have the years of experience and perhaps irreplaceability that are out there doing their work without the exposure they deserve.

Interacting(?) Galaxies Near M12

Posted By Darren Drake

Those are so faint I doubt they even are catalogued anywhere. They may indeed be gravitationally connected but a much more powerful scope is needed to determine if they are interacting.
