Jupiter 06/14 A very busy NEB and SSTB

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was around 7/10 with 4/5 transparency.

The SPR/SSTB is very busy this evening with lots of white ovals and other features! Note the "bridge" between the oval on the SPR to the one at the SSTB.

There is a huge rift on the NEB and lots of white spots as well! There are also a lot of Festoon activity of the EB.

Hope I get clear skies tomorrow. There will be a double transit with Io and Ganymede!!

Regards,

Chris

Fantastic Damian!! BTW, do you use the same gain setting on all RGB channels? What was your time limit for each channel?

Thanks,

Chris

Jupiter 06/15 DOUBLE TRANSIT!

Posted By Christopher Go

Finally it's double transit night. The sky is clear except for some haze. Sadly, seeing was was terrible at around 5-7/10 with 3/5 transparency.

Anyway, I was able to scrape some images. In image below you have 3 satellites and the GRS. Europa is on the left on it's way to Jupiter's back. Ganymede is the dark feature on the NNTB. While Io is on the right headed for the double transit. Note the bright round spot on the EB/NEB border on the left side of Jupiter.

Chris

After days of cloud and rain, I have finally finished my first animation for the year. Thanks to Sean Walker for the tips on how to align frames.

Jupiter 06/15 Perfect Night!

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

After days of cloud and rain, I finally got some break in the clouds. The rain helped make the 5/5 Transparency and a strong easterly wind made seeing around 8/10.

Lots of detials in Jupiter! Note the huge rift on the NEB!! The EB is also very busy with festoons! Note the small round STrB oval to the left of the GRS.

Regards,

Chris

Jupiter 07/11 Interesting GRS

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

It's been nothing but rain for the past few months. Finally has some decent conditions this evening. Seeing was around 7/10 with 3/5 transparency. Note the resolved GRS with two dark ovals in the center. Note also the oval inter acting with the GRS on it's right side. Lastly, note the very busy NEB.

Jupiter 7/14

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was around 8/10 with 4/5 transparency. I was imaging during twilight!

Many interesting features in Jupiter. Note the round white spot at the NTB. There is a blue feature at the STrB. The NEB is still very red and the EB is filled with blue festoon activity.

Lunar Images

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

Here are some lunar images I took on 7/14. I used my C8 and my Toucam. Comments and suggestions welcome. Also can you help me identify these features. I am still not that familiar with the moon.

Thanks,

Chris

Jupiter 7/15

Seeing was around 6/10 with 4/5 transparency.

The oval BA is setting on the left. Lots of activity on the NEB especially the huge rift area rising. This side of the SEB seems quiet.

Chris

AR808

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

After months of clouds, I finally got a small break! Here's an image of AR808 in HAlpha taken with a Solarmax 60 and my AP130EDF with a Toucam webcam. Sadly no flares today! It went cloudy a few minutes after I stopped imaging. Sigh!

Chris
