Hello Guys,

Just curious, which is a better camera the DMK firewire or the Lumenera?

Thanks,

Jupiter 6/01 Finally!! Good C11 image!!

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

I have finally worked out some most of the bugs on the C11. Seeing was around 7/10 with 3/5 transparency. Hardly a perfect night but thanks of John Nassr who fixed the correction, the C11 is finally in business! Still have to tweak collimation a little bit more though!

Chris

Jupiter 06/02 Busy Boring Side

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello

Seeing wasn't great today at around 6/10 with 2/5 transparency. The image of the C11 was so bad that I had to go back to my C8 again. This was due to Thermal issues and seeing was just so rough that I had a hard time focusing the C11. This is the side of Jupiter between the Oval BA and the GRS.

Note the white oval at the NPR!! Note also the bright white spot on the NEB. The STrB oval just before the GRS is very defined now.

There is also a bluish oval at the EB/SEB border just past the CM. The region of the EB at the CM looks like a lot of swirls going!! A very busy EB indeed!

Chris

Jupiter 06/03 Another Busy Boring Side

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

Seeing was about the same as yesterday at around 6/10 with 2/5 transparency. This is the area just after the GRS.
Note the SEB where the wake of the GRS meets the rest of the SEB. Note also the blue feature on the STrB at the CM. The light colored south pole is also prominent. The EB is very busy with lots of festoon activity. There is a bright spot on the NTB.

A special congratulations to Fr . Victor Badillo SJ, director of the Manila Observatory, for having Minor Planet 4866 designated in his honor. You have inspired countless of amateur astronomers here in the Philippines!! A special thanks to Edwin Aguirre and Imelda Joson making this possible!!

Jupiter 06/08 Double Shadow Transit

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

Seeing was around 7/10 with 5/5 transparency. This is the first clear night in a week. Typhoon season has began and seeing has dropped from the usual perfect nights!

I was fortunate to be able to capture my first double transit for the season. In this image Io's and Ganymede's shadow are transiting the Jovian disk!

There are also a lot of interesting features in Jupiter most notable the red SSTB bar. The NEB still has the dark spots. While there is an interesting EB Festoon just above Europa's Shadow.

Jupiter 06/09 Spots Galore!

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was around 7/10 with 3/5 transparency. It's white spots galore on Jupiter.

Starting from the SPR then to the SSTB then the STB. It's all white ovals!! The Oval BA setting in this image. There are the big ovals and some small ovals! Even cute ovals at the STB/STrB border just past the CM! I can count more than 20 white ovals!

The NEB seem to be very buys with a complex rift forming on the right side of the belt. The three white spots and the the three red spots on the NEB looks interesting. Now who says that there is a boring side of Jupiter!!

Here's an image of AR 775 and 776 in HAlpha using a Toucam Pro webcam.
AR776 is growing and hopefully will produce some flares soon!

Jupiter 06/10 Setting GRS

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was around 8/10 with 3/5 transparency.

The GRS is setting in this image. Note the very busy SEB wake of the GRS. There is a very bright yellow feature in the EB/NEB border which was prominent visually. There is also a faint blue wisp on the STrB close to the CM. The white spot on the NTB looks interesting!

Jupiter 06/11 Oval BA and a Busy STB

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was around 9/10 with 4/5 transparency. Conditions started hazy early this evening and improved by the time I took this image. Basically with a good easterly wind, seeing was very stable tonight.

Note the Oval BA close to the Meridian. Lots of activity on the SSTB especially the wide white region above the oval BA. There are lots of oval forming at the STB-SPR region.

The NEB has a small bright spot just past the CM. The dark and white spots are also very prominent of the NEB.
