Opinions wanted

I have a Tokina 300mm f/2.8 lens enroute via UPS. It's for my Canon 10D. I have a Canon EF 1.4x teleconverter. Should I buy a 2x teleconverter. I am leaning towards a Kenko pro 300 2x, because it's cheaper than Canon and also more specifically made for the lens. Some Canon users have discouraged me from even bothering. Has anyone had good success with a 2x t.c.? What do you think?

Suggestion

I think we should all start posting the Camera, lens, or scope we shoot each picture with. I am always curious, and I can't keep track of who has what. The astrophotographers do it. What do you think?
Regards,
Chris

New Toy

I recieved the Tokina 300 f/2.8 ATX Pro today. I hardly had time to run out and snap this picture. My initial impression is very good. This shot is taken against a white sky and there is no chromatic aberation. The colors of the bird etc are very good. I ordered a Kenko 2x pro to go with it. I'll have that next week to try out. Taken with Canon 10D.

ID help (Hawk)

Posted By Chris Nardone

O.K. when I saw this through my viewfinder I thought it was going to be easy. Red on the shoulder, Red-Shouldered Hawk. Now I'm not sure. I am in S Texas so I'm tempted to say White-Tailed Hawk, but I'm just not able to decide. What do you think?

White-tailed Hawk

I went on a two hour trip along the Texas coastal birding trail looking for hawks and saw none. Then in my neighborhood I saw a Red-tailed overhead and two White-tailed Hawks unfortunately on a utility pole.

Cel. 80ED or Cel. Onynx 80EDF

Posted By Chris Nardone

Celestron Onyx 80EDF - 80mm f/6.25 Fluoro-ED Refractor $399

Celestron 80mm ED - f/7.5 Refractor $429

I can't believe I am going to buy a refractor. I've always been a SCT-guy. Anyone have experience or knowledge on these products. The Onyx price has been slashed. Normally it is the more expensive scope. I am interested in visual on everything astro for now. Eventually, I envision this being mounted in tandom with a larger refractor. Astrophotgraphy = yes.
Thanks,
Chris

What is the best nebulae eyepiece for f/10 scope?

Posted By Chris Nardone

Celestron C6 SCT. What will give me the best view of the faint fuzzies? I sold my UO Konig II 32mm 1.25. It was the best I've used. Many threads suggest a 5mm exit pupil. Thats a 50mm eyepiece? I have a 40mm plossl that's good but wasn't as good as the Konig.
