More derp from the Trump admin.

Posted By David Cotterell

https://www.thestar.com/news/world/2017/01/30/the-white-house-just-cited-the-quebec-mosque-attack-to-justify-trumps-policies.html

The attacker in Quebec City was a white, christian, Quebec-born-and-raised, ethnically French young man. No amount of immigrant bans will stop these attacks...

From the Canadian Press: "

A vigil in Montreal on Monday for the victims of the Quebec City mosque attack. Ryan Remiorz/The Canadian Press via AP
Late Monday, Canadian authorities charged Alexandre Bissonnette, a white 27-year-old university student, with multiple counts of murder for an attack on a mosque in Quebec City that left six dead and many others injured. According to a report in the Globe and Mail, the 27-year-old Bissonnette "was known in the city's activist circles as a right-wing troll who frequently took anti-foreigner and anti-feminist positions and stood up for U.S. President Donald Trump." He also reportedly became a fan of far-right French leader Marine Le Pen after she visited Quebec City last March; a childhood friend and fellow student told the Globe and Mail that Bissonnette had become a xenophobe and was "enthralled" by racist nationalism."

Does the Trump admin. even think for 5 seconds before opening their pie-holes?

Why you voted for Trump

Posted By David Cotterell

"You voted for Trump because Clinton was going to be in Wall Street's pocket. Trump wants to repeal Dodd-Frank and eliminate the Fiduciary Rule, letting Wall Street return to its pre-2008 ways.

You voted for Trump because of Clinton's emails. The Trump administration is running its own private email server.

You voted for Trump because you thought the Clinton Foundation was "pay for play." Trump has refused to wall off his businesses from his administration, and personally profits from payments from foreign governments.

You voted for Trump because of Clinton's role in Benghazi. Trump ordered the Yemen raid without adequate intel, and tweeted about "FAKE NEWS" while Americans died as a result of his carelessness.

You voted for Trump because Clinton didn't care about "the little guy." Trump's cabinet is full of billionaires, and he took away your health insurance so he could give them a multi-million-dollar tax break.

You voted for Trump because he was going to build a wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. American consumers will pay for the wall via import tariffs.

You voted for Trump because Clinton was going to get us into a war. Trump has provoked our enemies, alienated our allies, and given ISIS a decade's worth of recruiting material.

You voted for Trump because Clinton didn't have the stamina to do the job. Trump hung up on the Australian Prime Minister during a 5pm phone call because "it was at the end of a long day and he was tired and fatigue was setting in."

You voted for Trump because foreign leaders wouldn't "respect" Clinton. Foreign leaders, both friendly and hostile, are openly mocking Trump.

You voted for Trump because Clinton lies and "he tells it like it is." Trump and his administration lie with a regularity and brazenness that can only be described as shocking.

Let's be honest about what really happened.

The reality is that you voted for Trump because you got conned. Trump is a grifter and the American people were the mark. Now that you know the score, quit insisting the con-man is on your side."

Trump so far...

Posted By David Cotterell

An astonishing record.

He is the first president to:

1. Be elected with the help of a hostile foreign power. The U.S. intelligence community released a unanimous assessment on Jan. 6 that concluded that “Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election,” and that Putin “aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances.”

2. Be investigated by the FBI for possible collusion with that same hostile foreign power. FBI Director James B. Comey has confirmed that his agents are looking into “the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government.”

3. So fulsomely express admiration for a Russian dictator — Trump has praised Putin for being “very smart,” “strong” and a real “leader,” while dismissing any concerns about Putin’s numerous human rights violations by saying, “You think our country is so innocent?”

4• Lie so regularly and brazenly, and often about matters, such as the size of his inauguration crowds, that are of little consequence. PolitiFact reports that only 17% of Trump’s statements are “true” or “mainly true,” with the rest ranging from “half true” to “pants on fire.”

5• Accuse his predecessor of “Watergate/Nixon” crimes by supposedly putting a “tapp” on his phones, and to then be publicly called out on his lies by his own FBI and National Security Agency directors, who testified that they know of no evidence that President Obama tapped Trump.

6• Rely so prominently on his family in government. After John F. Kennedy made his brother attorney general, Congress passed an anti-nepotism law in 1967. Based on a questionable legal interpretation, however, the administration claims the statute doesn’t apply to White House staff. Trump is giving his daughter Ivanka a security clearance and a West Wing office without forcing her to give up ownership of her clothing company, while making her husband, Jared Kushner, “lead adviser” on relations with China, Mexico, Canada and the Middle East, all subjects on which he has no background.

7• Have so many blatant conflicts of interest. Since winning the presidency, Trump has doubled membership fees at his “Winter White House,” Mar-a-Lago in Florida, to $200,000 and won valuable trademark protections from China. He has not placed his ownership of the Trump Organization into a blind trust. His sons, who are running his real estate empire, continue to pursue lucrative deals with dubious, politically connected tycoons from Turkey, Dubai, Malaysia and other countries. It’s hard to track all of the conflicts of interest, because of course Trump is also the first president in decades to not release his taxes.

8• Appoint his former campaign chairman to the National Security Council’s Principals Committee in spite of his lack of national security credentials. True, President Reagan made campaign manager William J. Casey his CIA director, but Casey had previously served in the OSS — the agency’s predecessor — and in senior government positions. By contrast, Stephen K. Bannon formerly ran Breitbart News, a white-nationalist website, before being granted rank comparable to Defense secretary or secretary of State.

9• Fire his first national security advisor, Michael Flynn, after only 24 days in office, because Flynn lied about making contact with the Russian ambassador. The shortest previous tenure on record was Richard Allen, who lasted nearly a year at the beginning of the Reagan administration.

10• Alienate so many allies so quickly. Since taking office, Trump has offended the heads of state in Mexico, Australia, Germany, Sweden, France and the United Kingdom.

11• Leave so many executive branch jobs vacant. Of 553 key positions, Trump has failed to fill 488 of them — 88%. At the departments of State and Defense, the only confirmed appointees are the Cabinet members.

12• So vitriolically attack the judiciary. Trump attacked a federal judge who put a hold on his executive order on immigration as a “so-called judge” who issued a “terrible decision” that will result in “many very bad and dangerous people … pouring into our country.” Even Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Neil M. Gorsuch, called the president’s attacks “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

13• Publicly denounce the media as “the enemy of the American people.” He regularly castigates the “fake news media” for reporting truthfully on his administration, with special venom for the “failing New York Times,” whose stock has risen 30% since the election.

14• Be so ignorant of public policy. According to New York Times columnist Roger Cohen, citing a “senior European diplomat,” at his recent meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, “Trump knew nothing of the proposed European-American deal known as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, little about Russian aggression in Ukraine or the Minsk agreements, and was so scatterbrained that German officials concluded that the president’s daughter Ivanka, who had no formal reason to be there, was the more prepared and helpful.”

15• See two of his signature initiatives — an attempt to limit Muslim immigration and to repeal Obamacare — defeated so early in his first term.

All of these things have happened before our eyes. It's all over the news. Everyone is reporting these shocking scenarios.

If someone chooses to say any of the above points are untrue, please present your citation. No "but Hilary and her emails" or "but Obama" or "but fake news" allowed. Hilary didn't win, Obama is out of the picture. Show how any of #1 - #15 above are factually untrue.

If Mr. Trump continues down these multiple slippery slopes I predict right here and now that he will be impeached before his first year in office is finished. And the people impeaching him will come from within his own party.

Sessions wants a Theocracy

Posted By David Cotterell

Recent quotes from Mr. Sessions:

"Separation of church and State is Unconstitutional."

“an extra-constitutional doctrine” and a “recent thing that is unhistorical and unconstitutional.”

Sessions, Pence, et al just can't wait to make Chrisianity the official religion of the USA.

In other news, "The Handmaid's Tale" debuts on Television this week...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Handmaid%27s_Tale

Do any of you on the right want this movie/miniseries to be a documentary?

I fear for your country right now...if you cherish freedom as much as you often say here then you should be up in arms about some of Trump's appointees and associates...

Republican "Health Care"

Posted By David Cotterell

If any of these points below are in error please illuminate.

1) Republicans do not believe health care is a right.

2) Republicans do not think the government should work toward ensuring everyone has health care coverage.

3) Republicans want tens of millions of people to lose their health care coverage so Republicans can pay for a tax cut for wealthy people. (see the proposed drastic reduction in capital gains taxes...)

4) Republicans believe that if you can't get the health care you need because you can't afford it, or getting that care financially ruins you, "thems the breaks" so to speak. You should have made more money, or made sure you got a job with better insurance coverage, or not gotten so sick.

5) Republicans do not think all health care insurance should cover certain essential benefits, nor do Republicans believe people with pre-existing conditions should be guaranteed coverage.

6) Republicans do not want an open, informed debate on an issue that impacts every American and 1/6th of the economy. That's why Republicans drafted the bill in secret and held no hearings.

The vast majority of those who voted for this sort of thinking are the very people who will be negatively affected. And they will vote for more and worse in the future..... I fail to understand the Stockholm Syndrome relationship between R voters and R policy.

Personal Responsibility in Health care

Posted By David Cotterell

Pence tweets.

"Before summer’s out, we'll repeal/replace Obamacare w/ system based on personal responsibility, free-market competition & state-based reform
1:41 PM - 24 Jun 2017"

"That’s the Republican way. That’s the American way. And, that’s the way we’re going to reform health care in the 21st Century.
1:42 PM - 24 Jun 2017"

Personal responsibility? Will coverage be limited or outright denied to someone who smokes? To someone who becomes paralyzed in a skiing accident? Because there is a clear "personal responsibility" in this type of situation...

BUT

Who is personally responsible for Type 1 diabetes? Childhood Leukemia? ALS? MS? MD? Cystic Fibrosis? Becoming a quadriplegic in a road accident? Alzheimer's? Parkinson's? Any number of maladies that require a lifetime of care and costs that no middle class family can afford without guaranteed lifetime health insurance?

By all means, throw the wheel-chair bound protestor out!! She wants an insurer to pay for her care for the rest of her life!!! How dare she!!!
