We live in Kentucky and have been putting out socks for the past 7 to 8 years. It seems to take about a week to start showing some interest but once the word gets around it becomes the gathering point. I started counting one year and we saw upwards of one hundred working the ten socks spread over about a 75' span.

They really don't like to share but will sure take advantage of one group chasing off another to stake their claim.

Sorta interesting, but it always looks like birds are irritated at anyone who takes their picture. Mammals tend to lookk curious and reptiles/amphibians are ambivalent.
