Wavelet - Processing exercise

I have set up a web page with links to two raw (pre-procesed) images. I am hoping people will download one or both of the images (one is strictly a bitmap file, the other are 3 color 16bit Fits images) and use their favorite processing technique on the images. Then send them back to me with the intimate details of what you did. I will then post the finished images with details on my web page and make it available for all to see. I hope this could be a learning aid for new users to see what technique does what to a pre-processed image. I am doing this in other newsgroups and I hope we can get 20-30 finished products. It's not a contest, just a way for us to see how our techniques compare to other's using exactly the same starting point.

Mars and Venus 04/13/04

We know that Mars is quite small now (4.6"), but I thought I'd give it a shot with my new 9.25" SCT. Considering the location and size, it turned out pretty good I think.

I shot Jupiter last night under what seemed like less than good conditions. After processing the image, it turned out better than I thought. The satellite to the left is Io.

Jupiter 04/16/04

Attached is an image I made of Jupiter last night (04/16/04). The day was quite breezy and I had to colliminate the 9.25". The images came to a better focus afterwards despite below average seeing. Wind is blowing quite hard today so I'll probably have to forgo imaging tonight. sad

Just wanted to let everyone know that i have about 8-10 responses for my little exercise, all are really good. If all goes well, I'll probably have the first results posted by Sunday or Monday...depending on the weather. It's been windy, but otherwise a nice spring weekend, it's hard to sit at a computer under those conditions. smile
