Jupiter 05/04 GRS on a Perfect Night!

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

Okay, I'm really frustrated with the C11. I did a comparison this evening between my C8 and Tomio's C11 and I just realized how lucky I am to have a perfect C8. I am still processing the images for the C11 but below is the image of Jupiter with the GRS with my C8! I now appreciate my C8 as it is a SCT which thinks that it is an APO refractor! Will post the C11 image tomorrow..

Regards,

Chris

Jupiter 05/05

Posted By Christopher Go

The skies was partially cloudy tonight. I had a guest this evening. He is none other than Brian Davis, an amateur from Manila! Seeing was around 9/10 while transparency around 4/5.

I was able to "steal" an image of Jupiter between cloud breaks. I am still using my C8 while I fix the bugs of the C11.

Note the very rifted SEB. There are spots from the STB to the SPR! There is an interesting U shaped feature on the EB/NEB border associated with the big blue festoon! There is also a bright white spot on the NEB.and an interesting bright spot on the NNTB.

Chris

Jupiter 05/07 GRS and a Spot

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was around 8/10 tonight but transparency was around 3/5 with haze and some scattered clouds. Here's another image of Jupiter with my C8.

The GRS was transiting this evening. Note the oval below the GRS!! Note also the dark round feature on the SEB to the right of the GRS!! What is this?

The NEB is filled with faint rifts. While the EB is busy with festoons!

Io is the satellite on the right.

Chris

Jupiter 5/08 Busy boring side!

Posted By Christopher Go

Conditions today were similar to yesterday. Great seeing but poor transparency due to some haze.

There are many interesting features in this boring side of Jupiter. Note the dark red barge on the SSTB. Note also the small white spot on the SPR close to the white bar of the south pole of Jupiter. The NEB is peppered with dark spots. While the SEB is very busy. Note the long reddish bar on the NTB. This feature is more prominent on my earlier images with the C11. The EB is very busy with lots of blue festoons appearing!

Jupiter 05/09 GRS devours spots!

Seeing was great tonight at around 9/10. Sadly, transparency was around 3/5 due to haze!

Jupiter is filled with activity. Note the two spots to the left of the GRS! There is really a very big change in the area around the GRS compared to the image I made 2 days ago! Note the white spots inside the GRS!!

The NEB is filled with rifts!! While the EB has a lot of interestingly shaped festoons!

Jupiter 05/11 Perfect Night

Posted By Christopher Go

Seeing was great tonight at around 9/10 with 4/5 transparency. This is probably one of my best image for this season!

Note the GRS rising on the right side. The NEB has a huge rift which seem to be emanating from two bright white features. The EB seems busy with lots of festoon activity. Note the two dark red features on the NTB and the ring feature at it's right! Note also the blue cloud at the SSTB at the CM.

Will be leaving for China tomorrow. Next image will hopefully be on Monday!

Jupiter 5/19 GRS

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello,

I'm back from my trip.

Here's my latest image of Jupiter. Seeing was around 7/10 with transparency at around 4/5. I was only able to get this shot as clouds rolled it. I wasn't even able to cool my C8..

Note the the ovals at the STrB which will have an encounter with the GRS in the next few weks. The rift of the NEB seem to be dissipating. Note the ring feature on the NNTB which was visible on my May 11 image. Also note the two red bars beside it!

Hopefully weather will be better in the next few days.

Regards,

Chris

Plato

Here's an image of Plato. I don't image the moon often so your comments and suggestions are most welcome! Can you count how many craterlets there are inside Plato?

Jupiter 05/20

Here's my latest image of Jupiter. Seeing was around 7/10 with transparency at around 4/5. Here's an image of Jupiter's boring side.

The oval BA is rising on the right. Note the large red ovals on the NEB!! Note also the bright spots on the NEB. Will this turn into rifts? We'll find out in the next few days. There is a red bar on the SSTB.

Chris
