I caught something on "Coast to Coast" last night about a web page concerning Chernobyl, so I had a look this morning.

CCD camera adapter

Hi all,

I am wanting to couple my camera lenses to my SBIG CCD however the SBIG adapters seem to be a rather extreme price. Any suggestions on other places where they can be bought?

CCDSoft problem

Hi all,

I am having problems doing flat fielding in CCDSoft. Using either reduction groups or individually, I get an error message "memory error error 205 (0cxd)". This is happening on 4 different computers using win 98, win2000, and win XP. There is no shortage of memory as the smallest RAM is 512mb. The images are st7 and st9. The version of CCDSoft I am using is the latest version of version 5 available from the Bisque website.

Software Bisque sopport is utterly useless. They refuse to discuss anything on the phone. Email only, which would not be too bad if they only bothered to answer email. In the 4 weeks since I started having this problem, all they have said is "please email some images". This has been twice, both times AFTER they had images sent to them!

Anyone using CCDSoft had this problem? Anyone know how to solve it?

MegaStar question

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with MegaStar. I had been using it to display RealSky images with the charts, using the RealSky CDRoms. I then obtained a large headdrive so decided to put RealSky on the harddrive to save swapping CD's. Now I cannot get the images to be displayed.

I have the latest version of V4 and have used "loadrs" to load the cd's onto the harddrive, but no images. I then tried to go back to using the CD's but it will not display them now.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Does anyone know if there is a MegaStar user's group?

Light pollution filters

Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to teach astronomy at a college that has considerable light pollution, so I am looking for some input about light pollution filters. These would be used by the students during their observing sessions, so the targets would be the general run of deep-sky objects. From what I know, some LP filters work very well on nebulae and planetaries, but do poorly on continuous spectra objects such as clusters and galaxies.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be welcome.
