Hi

I am a new to solar observing and imaging. I got a small sheet of Baader Solar Filter (Photographic) from a vendor and I am using it with an 80mm F/5 scope reduced to 35mm central aperture. I am using just a single layer but the sun seems to be way too bright to even take a glance. In fact my eye hurts if I try to focus the image for more than 20 secs. Is this normal for baader filters? Is the sun in photographic filters brighter than visual ones.
Any help is appreciated.

Vishnu, Photographic film is NOT for visual use, DO NOT LOOK THROUGH IT!...

Don't play with your eyes and The Sun, my friend... if you want to use your eyes on it, make sure it is for Visual Use... not photographic.

P.S.
I have a Full-Size "HomeMade" Baader Filter for my ST-80 and I can look at the Sun for as long as I want... no problems. As Paul says in his post, get the Visual Filter, you'll be able to do CCD work with it just fine...
