Mars...What might help this image?

I was pretty happy to capture any image of Mars, but this is a long way off from the images I've seen here. I took this with a Sony DSC-P72, I stacked about 19 images in Registax. I also used photoeditor to Decrease the brightness and increase the contrast to bring out a little more of the surface features. Any thoughts on how to make this better? Would stacking even more images help? Thanks for any input.

Dave -

Larger image scale for the planet and more images integrated will both help you tweak out the most detail from a given night of seeing. Video or webcam imaging offers a big advantage for the planets.

good luck,

Here's your image with different variations of processing after aligning the RGB channels. I doubled the size. This is much better than my first attempt.

Good luck,

Ernie

Practice. My first image of Mars was terrible .The second, I noticed improvement and the third was much better. By the time Mars reaches its peak I should have it down.
