Here's an attempt at comet Lovejoy using my Tak TOA150 and a Sbig STL11000. Processed in MaximDL and PSCS2.

Beautiful!

When you are setting up the shot, can you see the tail in the focusing exposures well enough to compose the shot?

Also, what were your exposure lengths?
