I am very interested in trying out some CCD imaging, since the things I love most about astronomy are the deep sky objects (and the planets). I already have a Macintosh laptop. So I am wondering if any of you use a Mac for imaging? If so what equipment do you use? Is the door open for Macs? How would someone like myself get started with the task of CCD imaging? I have a C-11 scope on a G-11 mount. I would also like to do some h-alpha imaging of the sun. Any suggestions?

Hi Michael,

The college where I work uses Macs. (Why I do not know!!!) The astronomy class use ST-6's and we also have an ST-8. These will run on the Macs with an adapter that you can get from SBIG.

I am not sure about the Meade cameras as I have always used mine with a PC. Also I am not sure what 3rd party image processing software is available for the Mac, but I would imagine that many of them are. Just check before you buy.
