Hi All,

Welp, I have attempted to put an LRGB together of M106 (my "first" real one). Please look it over an give me feedback so I can apply them to the next "shot" at the data. The Luminance and RGB are being redone so I'll probably bug you again with this one...

Image Info:
Luminance - 11 hours and 40 minutes total gathered in 5 minute subs
Red - 230 minutes; 3 hours and 50 minutes in 10 minute subs
Green - 170 minutes; 2 hours 50 minutes in 10 minute subs
Blue - 290 minutes; 4 hours 50 minutes in 10 minute subs

Hardware used: Takahashi FSQ/SBIG ST-2000 (longing for an STL6303)/Losmandy G-11 with Gemini.

Brian, and every Forum member, why bust your chops for 11 hours for a very fine photo when a HyperStar rig can do it in..., 30 minutes?? Or so the users claim. See also the Yahoo, Fastar group.

Hi Brian,

Great shot. Very good resolution in the central bulge.

I took the liberty of playing around with it in Photoshop. To me it seems to magenta. My 2 minute attempt is below.

Regards,

Maurice

Hi Brian,

Looking pretty good smile
Like Maurice mentioned it is a little on the Magenta side. With the amount of data you have there I am betting you will get the color balance worked out with a bit more playing with it.

It's a great image, with good color balance it is going to be awesome!

Brian,
Great resolution - super image.

I tend to agree with Maurice - on my monitor the image seems biased a bit toward magenta. It made me wonder if you did the color exposures on different nights and if the conditions may have been variable. Also, your total time on green was low, but I assume you average (or median, or sigma combine) - in which case fewer subs are not variation of signal scale - just more or less noise. Now if you did a summing combine, there could be trouble.
