Religion: so where are we headed?

I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on eventual results of the major religions that exist today. Seems over the centuries there's been a lot of conflict due to differences in beliefs. Also over the centuries there has been coalescing of religions into geographically larger and larger blocs (i.e. Christianity in the West, Islam in the Middle East and South Asia, etc.).

A lot of religious conflict, wars and feuding, continues all over the world today. After all, people feel strongly about their beliefs. What do you think is the likely result?

1) War without end
2) Eventual triumph of _________ (insert your religion here)
3) Eventual elimination of religion entirely
4) Eventual 'averaging' of religions into something like deism or unitarianism (possibly part of a larger global cultural homogenization)

Okay, i'll bite, but won't say why just yet...

If not #3, or -less likely- #4, then it's #1, i'm afraid...

just look at what happened today in Israel... ultimately that's all about religion and who's god gave what land to whom... it's likely to carry on there for centuries.

Real tough call to make at *this* hostile point in time. It's difficult not to see conflict everywhere, with wildly varying degrees of severity, for centuries. Eventually, though, I can see #4 possibly emerging, but it's an 'eventually' that's quite a long way away.

The prediction from the Bible.

Things will get worse and worse, wars, global economy down the drain, etc. Then as Rick mentioned, a new leader will arise from within the church and sweep the religious and political world, uniting religions and governments, starting with christianity and the US government. Persecution of all who will not go along with this until Jesus steps in and finishes everything, and rescuing His true followers who do not join in with this world religion.

Believe it or not, that is up to you, but that is the prediction from the Bible, principly from Daniel and the Revelation.
