Hello Bill,

I was raised Catholic. During my university years, when I took up BS Physics. I became an agnostic/athiest. I studied in a Catholic University but that didn't stop me from becoming an Agnostic. In enjoy driving my physics professors who were priest crazy! I was a gadfly for many of them. I enjoyed making fun of "religious people" and driving them crazy using Cosmological arguments.

For months the main sticking point was in matters of Cosmology. I was happy to see that the Catholic Church accepted the Big Bang Theory (which was first proposed by a Catholic priest.) and Evolution. But still acceptance isn't enough. My main question was "How can God exist if he doesn't have a begining?" Even up to now, I don't quite subscribe the arguments of St Thomas Aquinas on his Prime mover theory.

My conversion is something very personal. It's not about any reasons on Physics or Cosmology. Or coming to a "god" conclusions from science. Let's just say God has his way on making himself know in your life something that no amount of argument can make. There was no midway point for me. I had my Damascus. I had to study about the Catholic Church again from History (both Secular works and the Catholic version.) Study what the Catholic Church teaches. Aside from Physics and Astronomy, I have an intense passion for History and Archaeology. It's not about religions history but histories of different cultures all over the world.

Many people still come to me asking for "proof of God". The only way I can show this is by struggling to live by example.

People think of being a Catholic as going to mass on Sundays and adoring saints. But Catholic life is basically Unity of Life! To live out all Christians principles whose foundations are based on loving one another including ones enemies.

While some Catholics give up their professions for God, the rest of us have to live out our ordinary live as exemplary citizens and members of our family. A Catholic should live by example no just in word. Sadly, this is easier said that done and this is a lifetime struggle. But with Love, things become easy. When you Love God, Love your Work and Love others, things have a different perspective!

Sadly very few Catholics live this way now. But it doesn't me that nobody is living this anymore. It is sad that the biggest problem of the Catholic Church is that it's members have become less Catholic!

Regards,

Chris

Hello Guys,

I would to make a clarification of my background. I think many of you are thinking that I chose Catholicism because it is the only religion I am exposed to.. Well I have a rather complicated background.

My grandfather is a Taoist. He even has a Taoist temple on the top floor of our house. And I mean a real temple where people go and worship. My grandfather is what you would call a Taoist "medium". My grandma is a Buddist. My dad is a Taoist. I got my Catholicism from my mom. Athough she is more of a cultural Catholic than a fervent one.

Some members of my family weren't really very happy with my embrace on Catholicism. Most especially my grandparents. Oh yeah, we used to live under one roof. In fact, they would rather that I study astrology rather than Physics... grin

Regards,

Chris
