Hi James,

It is interesting that you should mention the Phillipines. My wife is fillipino and you should hear her and her relatives talk about the US and its invasion of the Phillipines. Although they were greatful to the US for ousting the Spanish, they very quickly came to hate the US as well as they just took over the country as an American colony. Even today, US businesses have special considerations/favouritism in the Phillipines. One of the conditions for fillipino independence! US foreign policy is too strongly controled by the greed of big business. There should be a warning from what happened in the Phillipines for what is happening in Iraq. Did the US really believe that they would be welcomed in Iraq????

Cheers,

Maurice

"Did the US really believe that they would be welcomed in Iraq????"

By the hoopla over the "liberation" of Iraq that was thrown by the administration, you'd think so.

i think that that's what certain parties would have the Ordinary American believe, and if you only get your news from Fox (i watched some of it just now, and i cannot face my lunch yet!) you just might buy it, but that's a used car i'm not buying!

Sadly for the US, it seems that the Iraqi troops aren't buying it yet either.

And as an aside, i thought that Fox was covering the Superbowl for all its cheerleading... and i hope that they leave Geraldo Rivera-for-god's-sake out there in that stinkin' desert this time! (there, i mentioned the (a) name of the deity...)

Maurice, you may have noticed by now, having been here for awhile, that the average American is woefully ignorant of world -and US, BTW -history.
