He's not dead, just busy watching CNN.

It appears he has left his position. A help wanted ad should be placed for a supreme being on Craig's list. Perfect beings need only apply. Personal and previous employer references required. We certainly don't want to be stiffed like the last deity who quit without notice abandoning us in this imperfect universe.

God is just mad and a little stressed. His chosen pro quarterback lost in the Superbowl. The "Miracle on the Hudson" was ascribed to pilot skill and rescuer readiness. He's like, "Dude, I helped them get over heavily populated New York City, avoid the bridge, and land with the wings perfectly level. What's a diety got to do around here?" Last I heard, he's not too impressed with the way we handle aircraft de-icing and the way some pilots react to a stall. He says that we can't land a plane in foul weather without him.

God also has tons of people bugging him incessantly about job situations, home foreclosures, and the like. It's getting on his last nerve. By now, he says humanity should have realized that the bankers are Satan's minions. Seriously, if you are paying 27% interest on a department store credit card and can't realize the influence of Satan, he says he can't help you. He says we should all shut up with the banal prayers and keep the lines of communication open for the poor souls who are driving supply trucks around in Afghanistan.

In general, he's pretty fed up with humanity. The early morning masses on Sundays are really starting to bug him. He says Sunday is his day of rest and people should know better than to call so danged early. He has pretty much vowed to leave humanity on it's own for awhile.

For now, he is still watching American Idol with interest on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. He says it gives him something to do while waiting for Tim Tebow to play again in the fall.

I think God is pretty much indulging in some me time. He'll be back later.
