For you non-believers; consider the following 100% factual story:

At 8:50 A.M. yesterday, I posted the following:

"Anyway, based upon my own driving habits and those I observe around me, finding someone to ticket for moderate (about 10 mph over) speeding has to be about the easiest thing in the world, so why mess around with dicey fact situations if you want to write a lot of tickets?"

Little did I know that about 15 minutes later, my know-it-all 17 year old son would acquire his first speeding ticket for going about 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. Fortunately, the cop wrote the ticket down to 74 in a 65, to minimize the points.

Dad is not pleased.

God is laughing his butt off.

Jim:

A speeding ticket is a lesson... Hopefully your son will only need one such lesson. Some young drivers never get a chance to learn that lesson until is is too late, a casket is quite upsetting. sad

Back in the late 80's when my three boys were beginning to drive, I gave each one a car and they paid all the expenses, insurance, fuel, repairs, we had a fleet of 1981 VW Rabbit Diesels. I think we had 4 runners and one parts car. Oh, at first they were jealous of their friends with their fancy fast cars but pretty soon the 40mph economy made sense and it was pretty hard to get a speeding ticket in a VW Diesel... I imagine the CHP probably avoided speeding VW diesels on the grounds that they would have to appear in court...
