astronomy question about Revelation

In the book of Revelations, the seventh seal was opened and this begins the Trumpet judgments. The second trumpet is something like a huge mountain all ablaze, thrown into the sea, turning a third of the water to blood, killing a third of the creatures and destroying a third of the ships.. The third trumpet judgment was a great star blazing like a torch, that fell from the sky and a third of the rivers and springs of water... and the name of that star was Wormwood. Now I think most people would agree that both these may be a meteor or comet strike. As astronomers, can anyone tell me the really big difference between the two. All the information you need is in this post. Think astronomy. This is not a theological or trick question. Vince

Since nobody seems to want to even try to answer my question, I'll give the answer I was looking for. The first star had no name and the second star does. This means, to me, the first one was not discovered and blindsided the earth and the second was discovered before it hit, hence the name. No deeper meaning. Geez people, lighten up. Vince

Vince,

The author of Revelations (John) erred in that he described a fusion event (star crashing) , when, in fact, Wormwood was a fission event. Chernobyl is in the Ukraine, and Chernobyl is Ukranian for Wormwood. Since the catastrophe at Chernobyl did in fact make the waters bitter (no one lives anywhere near there), I think we can credit John with a pretty good prophecy.

"And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter."
