Glenn Becks' level of honesty doesn't suit everyone as much as they like to think it does. I often find people have the exact same problem with me. People like to think of them self as honest, thoughtful, and of course...correct. But when confronted with the facts, true and accurate honesty really doesn't suit very many people nearly as much as they like to believe it does. Glenn doesn't have that problem...and neither do I.
Everyone has their opinion and that's fine, but don't ever confuse opinion or wishful thinking with the truth. I've lived long enough to know the truth and Glenn pretty much has it right.
Of course, there will always be people who have different opinions tailored to suit their wants and needs...but that also shouldn't be confused with the truth. The truth is self evident and doesn't change. Sure...people change it around...like going to court and having a jury "vote" on THE TRUTH...as if it were some kind of democracy. What a joke that is. But don't worry, the truth has a way of making itself known regardless of personal opinion.
I suspect anyone over 40 years old knows exactly what I'm talking about. -Kurt Horsley

What Glenn Beck said about the 9/11 families and responders turned me off from him. I think irresponsible people like him should be held accountable for the trouble they stir up.

Here is his insensitive rant...
"You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims' families. It took me about a year. Um, and I had such compassion for them and I really, you know, I wanted to help them, and I was behind -- let's give them money, let's get them started, and all of this stuff. And I really didn't -- all the 3,000 victims' families, I don't hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I'm just like,'Oh, shut up.' I'm so sick of them. Because they're always complaining."

His biggest sin, from a long list, is that he's pretty stupid. Not at making money or getting ratings mind you, just with facts.

I would not call him stupid then,,,just ignorant.

Kurt, you serious?

"Glen Beck's level of honesty..."

Like when he said that Obama has a hatred for white people? THAT kind of honesty?

Or when I heard him say on the radio that we shouldn't have had the TARP bailout. I paraphrase (it's been a while) "I know we would have been in a depression if there wasn't TARP. But I would have been ok and I believe most of my listeners would have survived. I sure wish they would have let it happen."

There's your Beck!

John..

Yep...that's exactly what I'm saying. TARP was nothing but a giant American style BF. I could easily live without it and just let the chips fall where they may. Sooner or later, they will anyway so just get on with it.
TARP money only encourages more of the same...which should be quite obvious by now. TARP is one of the worst ideas in the long sad history of bad ideas. -Kurt Horsley

A person who can't understand the facts is stupid. A person who is unaware of the facts is ignorant. A person who distorts the facts or makes up his own "facts" is a liar. Beck is neither stupid nor ignorant, he's just a liar...

I don't think Glenn Beck is a liar. I think he is just saying what he thinks. I can't say that I listen to him all of the time--when I have, I've heard him say much that I agree with. I have heard him say some things that go farther than I would.

Sometimes we call people liars when they just don't see things the way we do. Sometimes what we think is a fact, may not be.

For instance, President Obama said in his speech last week some things that to me were obvious lies. (e.g Health Care reform will be deficit neutral, there won't be any rationing of health care under his plan, that these are undisputable facts, etc.) But I don't think that HE thinks he lied. And I don't think that he is an evil person because he is shading the truth. I think that he could be much more honest about it though.

People have the tendency to use debate tactics instead of truth when they talk. Winning a debate doesn't mean you have the truth--it may mean thaty your'e better at being manipulative. People use hyperbole when trying to persuade you for their point of view, and to persuade you against the other point of view. I'm not a fan of debate for that reason. I'd prefer the attempt for someone to be straight with me.

This whole arguement over "death panels" is another example. When people on the right bring this up, it is because they fear rationing of health care by the government. They have a point. There most definitely will be rationing by the government if they have control. The term "death panels" is hyperbole. People on the left rightly bring up the fact that insurance companies also ration care because they sometimes deny treatments and drop policies when people get sick. But they often overstate how much that happens--like that is the norm, instead of being an anomaly. People on both sides need to listen more and stop demonizing each other.

Well, I would agree with many posting on this, but only if you include guys like Olberman, Matthews Cooper and pretty much all of the MSM. If anyone has a hero in either news or opinion, odds are you are not one to think for yourself. My guess is many of the posters who think Beck is stupid, ignorant or a liar also think Olbermann or Matthews, or Cooper is a brilliant straight shooter.

The media takes extreme positions on both sides and we fall for it by choosing sides when most/many of us have values that are represented by no one in the media. And don't get me started on politicians. I only see two types, corrupt and divisive or those who will soon be.

Hate Beck, but do not idolize anyone or you are part of the problem.

Although I personally don't like Glenn Beck, I agree with him on most points. Glenn has been on target more than not. I have a lot of respect for his tenacity. He is the product of a single party government run amuck with no cheques and balances. The members of the party now in control are like a bunch of lemmings that will fall on their spear no matter right or wrong, just to further enhance an ideology. Not really good representation. shocked
