... that i was only going to frequent businesses owned and operated by whites? How racist would that sound and how racist would that be? How badly would i be crucified by Sharpton, Jackson & the media?

Now read this.

How can we ever truly be an integrated society when the ones screaming for integration, fairness and equality constantly choose to voluntarily segregate themselves?

(Please note, this question is only that, i'm looking for opinions, not insinuations that because i'm asking this question i must be racist)

It is a 'racist practice'. But may be locally beneficial. Dunno. 'Common knowledge' which is always suspect, holds that some successful ethnicities have become successful by attracting money into the neighborhood and then keeping it there by buying local.

It would be a benefit to have wealthier communities regardless of the ethnicity of communities.

When I was doing social work, there were poor urbans, all races. And there were poor rurals, all races. Because of geography the problems were not identical. But one might guess a general problem was that too little money would flow into those areas, and too much money would flow out of those areas.

A 'buy local' mindset doesn't necessarily offer a global advantage in a zero-sum game. Perhaps it offers advantages in non-zero-sum games. Dunno.

Seems logical that if you want yer own neighborhood to get better/wealthier, that spending most of yer money with neighbors would encourage that. Regardless if the neighbor is green, gray, or blue.

A black feller who lives on the most blighted street in town-- Dunno if he is guaranteed to help his street if he makes a policy to buy from some black merchant out in the burbs. Dunno.
